How Frederick Douglass Influenced Rochester and the US

Frederick Douglass was an important man of influence on America. He acco plished many tasks that lead to emancipation, and left a lasting legacy that would cause people to always remember him. Douglass was an inspiring speaker, and spoke in America, England, and several other places in Europe. He even spoke for President Andrew Johnson, and met with President Lincoln. Douglass was not only an active participant in the emancipation and suffrage of slaves, but he also was active in women's suffrage. Douglass even brought an end to segregation in the school system of Rochester, NY. Douglass was an active participant in the underground railroad, and helped many other fugitive slaves to freedom. Perhaps one of Douglass' greatest legacies was the newspapers he left behind. his "North Star"/"Frederick Douglass Paper" took great steps in Journalism, and he left behind a great paper that influenced and inspired many other Americans, that is why Douglass is one of the greatest leaders in history.
