Rey Ordonez

The New York Post reports that Rey Ordonez is contemplating retirement. "I've played eight years in the big leagues," Ordonez said. "I want to spend more time with my family. I'm not sure now, but I'm thinking about it. We'll see what happens in September."

From ST. PETERSBURG -- When the Devil Rays traded for Rey Ordoņez last December, they were hoping for a shortstop who would play the best defense the team has ever seen, and provide support for a young pitching staff. So far, a rejuvenated Ordoņez has done that and much, much more.


7/02: Rey Ordonez is out for the season after surgery revealed a large tear in the ligament of his left knee. He will be able to resume baseball related activity in approx. nine months.
