RED BEE Talk, Tours and Honey Tastings events are opportunities for visitors to visit a working apiary and experience honey at its source. Beekeeper and Honey Sommelier, Marina will treat guest to a tour of her Red Bee Apiary then gather at farmhouse style tables to taste and evaluate artisanal honeys. Guest will learn how honeybees make this liquid gold we call honey, how location and nectar source determines a honeys color and flavor and how honey is harvested and extracted from the hive. Participants will be encouraged to engage their curiosity through discussions while learning about the many types and styles of unique nectar sources. Each menu is a carefully orchestrated "Tasting Flight" of seven single-origin local honeys and seven perfectly paired with seasonal accompaniments; locally and estate produced- cheese, fruit, chocolate, olive oils, nuts, bread, spices or herbs.
Marina will take guest through the sensory analysis of tasting and evaluating the honeys based upon the Honey Sommelier chapters of her book HONEYBEE Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper. Guest will record their tasting impressions on the Honey Tasting score sheet based upon aroma, color, flavor, taste and pairings. This is truly the Art of Honey appreciation.
Talk, Tours and Honey Tastings events last 90 minutes, including Q&A and a book signing afterwards. All guest will receive a signed copy of Marina's book HONEYBEE included in the price. A twenty minute champagne reception to welcome guest can be included before the event. Guest are limited to 30. Since these events are outside, guest are encouraged to set a rain date to reserve their place on our calendar.
Honey Tastings at your venue require tables, chairs, kitchen work space and volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up. Host are responsible for travel and accommodations for Marina.
