Welcome to Ray's Stanley Cup Playoff Page
Welcome hockey fans! The playoff race is about to start and I can feel the tension in the air as the last few games wind down. Colorado is dominating in The West, while
in The East anything can happpen, as Ottawa and New Jersey fight for the top spot.

GO SABRES!
With the defending cup champion New Jersey Devils looking strong, I do not think that any
team has a chance of stopping them in The Eastern Conference playoffs. Click Here to see my predicted matchups and winners.
Talks have been arising in The East about two young stars who opted to sit out this year
under contract disputes. Michael Peca, former captian for Buffalo, wanted three million more
than the 11.25 million that was offered to him by The Sabres. When they wouldn't budge, he demanded
to be traded, saying that he couldn't play for Buffalo anymore. The same stiuation happened in
Philadelphia with star center, Eric Lindros. But the Lindros situation was different in that the selfish
former captian would only be dealt to Toronto, who had no interest in him. As the March 13 trade deadline came
and went, these two extremely talented young captians were not dealt and now have to wait for next year.
The Western Conference Race

Although I wouldn't call The Western Conference Playoffs a joke, the Colorado Avalanche, with the addition of
Rob Blake, is the easy pick for runaway winner, and when they get to the Cup Finals, only a team like the Devils
or the Sabres will have enough depth to put up a fight. Click Here to see my predicted matchups and winners.
With the Avalanche leading the league in points, they are my pick to go all the way and take home yet another Stanley
Cup for veteran goaltender and all time wins leader, Patrick Roy. But don't look for teams to just roll over and not
give the Avs a chance, especially St. Louis and Dallas. With the addition of Kieth Tkachuk, the Blues look to be a resurrected
squad. His leadership and charisma made St. Louis a perfect fit for the left-winger who is in search of his first Stanley Cup.
With Stars goalie Eddie Belfour not dissapearing from his team anymore and looking again as he did last season, the Stars will
have someone to rally around since two of their top scorers are out. "The Eagle" as he is called, is out looking for respect and
an olympic nod by Gretzky so he can represent his country and make the people proud. But when he dissapeared this year to "get away"
from the troubles of his slump and coach Ken Hitchcock losing faith, he basically ruined any and all chances of getting on that esteemed
roster. Unless he wins the Cup for Dallas, he will have no shot at olympic gold.
