Concerns of nail sanitation and implement sterilization have increased over the years. Doctors and the Legal community have joined to create strict laws that ensure the safety and hygiene of today's salon environment. Star Nail has addressed these concerns with the creation of Client Guard TM, the first personalized nail service implement pak. The concept, whereby salons are preparing individual implement packs so their clients can keep their own set of implements and eliminate any doubts that their implements have been properly sanitized or that they were used on a client beforehand.
(Statutory Authority: General Business Law Section 404)
Section I 60.18 common use of certain items prohibited
a) The use of the following is prohibited or limited as follows: An emery board for more than one person unless the board is of a type that can be disinfected
New state board health regulations banning the re-use of non-sanitizable implements have made it mandatory to prepare individual implement packs or throw away the non-sanitizable implements away after each use.
Recently, an article which appeared in The New York Daily News heightened the issue of the importance of sanitation and highlighted how consumers are applauding the new rules. The article stated, "New state regulations ban re-use of emery boards, and require that salons disinfect finger bowls after each manicure. Use of pumice stones and razor blades are no-nos, and French manicure pencils must be sharpened after each use." According to Dr. Paul Kechijian, a New York university dermatology professor who specializes in nails, the importance of maintaining a sanitary salon environment is crucial to avoiding fungal and bacterial infection. He added,
"When the cuticle is removed or cut, the barrier function is impaired, and yeast, bacteria and chemicals can get in."
Individual Implement Paks from Star Nail are more than just a piece of mind, they are the proper way to use non-sanitizable implements on all our clients
