Well, here we are in our eighth year of homeschooling! I guess in some people's view we are "old pros"; but I don't believe there is such a thing. Every year we re-evaluate our convictions about homeschooling, renew our dedication, review our children's needs, and often times re-create our homeschool. Every year, no matter how many years you've been at it, you are faced with new challenges, changes, difficulties, and triumphs. Each new year is just that...new. We carry some things with us from year to year; but each year is its own. So, I may have mastered last year; but this school year?...ask me in June!

We are using Alpha Omega LifePacs. Our children prefer the workbook style; although, we do use Saxon Math for our daughter.
We are also teaching kindergarten again. Gabriel is using our well-used Alpha Phonics which is wonderful. For a few years, it has been unavailable for purchase. It was just re-released this year. It is a very non-threatening approach to learning phonics rules and learning how to read. We also love the Reason for Writing penmanship series. Each day the child practices his writing a Bible verse and works toward the end of the week when he can pick out a bordered page to recopy the verse on to display or give away. Right now for math we are using materials from the local teachers' supply store.

Ok, school is over, the children are fed, the housework... well, done or undone it gets placed on the back burner for a while. You are a wife, a mother, a teacher, but most importantly you are a child of God. Here is a wonderful place for spiritual refreshment. Enjoy!
