The RTM organizational meetings saw two challenges to long-entrenched district chairmen. In District 12, it was all out war (as usual) as Richard Brimberg took on Sam Romeo. Brimberg had to have known that he did not have a chance, however in a District where two (and now three) Romeo's have been in almost constant battle with Paula Corrado, Fred Camillo, Brimberg, Nick Fortunato, and others, fireworks fly routinely, and Brimberg decided to make it a fight.

In district 10, Brian Forrow unsuccessfully challenged Joan Caldwell. The outcome was predetermined thanks to some behind the scenes manuevering by Cadwell supporters, however it is not likely that Caldwell could have been beaten under any circumstance. Forrow believes that the organizational meetings were in violation of FOI laws as the members voting were not yet sworn in for the 2000-2001 term.
