As you can see, Connecticut has
only 8 counties but oh, what a lot of
history and beauty are contained
in this small State!
We will visit Hartford, the Capital,
then journey toward the southeast and down
the coastline, where there is much to be seen!.
A point of interest in each state is
the Capitol Building.

State Capitol first opened for
General Assembly in January, 1879.
Constructed of New England Marble
and Granite, with a goldleaf Dome.
The "Old" State House.
Designed by Charles Bulfinch and
built in 1796, the Old State House is
the oldest State House in the nation.

Hartford has many Parks and
Gardens, but time won't permit
us to see them all on this trip.
We must visit one more!
The Elizabeth Park Gardens.
102 acres of pure beauty!
Once owned by Charles H. Pond who
willed his estate to the
City of Hartford, with the stipulation
that it be used as a horticultural park
and that it be named for his wife
Elizabeth, who had died a few years earlier.
