The Official Trip Song
This song was written on the road from Brookings to Huron by Lyn and Tom. So far the record companies haven't responded to the tape we sent in, but we're still crossing our fingers.

-1-

1. It's six in the morning
Sun's coming up
Been up for an hour
Loading the truck
I pull on my spandex
Up to my waist
Yank on my shirt
Use some toothpaste

Chorus 1: I'm biking across the USA
I do what Ken and Nancy say

2. I got some Golden Grahams
Shove 'em down my throat
Without skim milk
I might choke
I grab some pop tarts
And kudos bars
Hop on my bike
Ahead of the cars

[Chorus 1]

3. Clouds up ahead
I'm gonna get wet
I put on my raingear
But I start to sweat
I'm hot and sticky
My body can't breathe
So I take it off
And start to freeze

[Chorus 1]

4. I'm cruisin' at twenty
When I get a headwind
Ken still cruises at twenty
With Jake draftin' him
They catch up to Catherine
Her back is sore
As soon as they pass her
It starts to pour

Chorus 2: I'm biking across the USA
Why do I do this anyway?

5. I'm dodging the roadkill
And lots of cow turds
I can see Peter
But Peter sees birds
Just when I catch him
We suddenly stop
To buy some more doughnuts
And a bottle of pop

[Chorus 2]

6. I wait at the Kwik Trip
Watchin' the rain
When Cassie and James
Come down the lane
They're soaking wet
From head to toe
They had to stay late
Finishing the load

[Chorus 2]

7. Nancy leaves early
To get a headstart
In front of us all
On her low rolling cart
We pull into lunch
And grab the cell phone
Uh, Houston, we have a problem...
Kendall's all alone!

Chorus 3: I'm biking across the USA
My bathroom is a bale of hay

8. Judy and Emily
Our last support staff
They made us lunch
They made us laugh
We had other drivers
Evelyn and Don
Judy and Erica,
But they have since gone

[Chorus 3]

9. We'll travel across
Eleven states
One Canadian province
And many a place
The road can be
A lonely haul
But Tom and Lyn
Sing through it all

Chorus 4: I'm biking across the USA
What a wonderful way to spend the day...
