Yeah, so you're probably all wondering why there is a Christian page on a Pagan website. Well, this page isn't to insult. This page expresses similarities between these religions and why, my connection to Christianity, and my thoughts on it. Go on and read...you might find it interesting.
Paganism was around long before Christianity was. Once Christianity formed and became strong they competed with people still following the old religion. It is said that Christians with high religious positions made holidays right near Pagan holidays. If you compare the holidays with each other you'll see that many have their holidays are right near each other. How this happened I can't say for sure. For all I know it could be rivalry, coincidence, or maybe something relating to the seasons. Or maybe it goes farther back to even older beliefs that took their own form. The only difference in our holidays really are why we're worshiping and even those are sometimes similar!
| These religions also have similar worshiping methods such as praying and those tools which we use to worship with. Both use altars, candles, symbols (pentacle or cross), books (Bible or BOS), chalice, and incense.
When I was in Europe I visited an Abby where monks used to live.... and noticed that the figures they had were probably close to those you would see in a Pagan's worshiping place. There was Mary with her baby Jesus in her lap. She reminded me of the Goddess with baby God in her lap. Then I saw a statue of a man who was either Jesus or Joseph, I wasn't sure, and I felt it equaled a statue of God. Every religion had to start somewhere. And though each religion is different they all have the basics that connect us all. Belief in a higher power or powers just shows our different perceptions on what that higher power is. We're all worshiping that same force, just in different ways. |

I never took too much interest in Christianity though I always had this connection to Joan of Arc, a Christian saint. She was French and obviously Christian. She said she heard angels telling her God's will which was to unite France. She did so and afterwards was burnt as a witch. Later on she became a saint. A couple of years before my conformation I started to learn about Wicca which then lead me to all sorts of Paganism. I would go to CCD to please my mother and in the meantime I adopted my religion, Paganism. But even now when I call myself a witch, Pagan, Wiccan, whatever...I still have that connection to Joan of Arc.
