Welcome to my World

Many people have asked me what is a Taino?

The best answer I can give you is that Tainos were the Native Indians of the caribbean islands. The complextion of the Tainos was of a tan or bronze-color, with dark hair of average height and dark eyes. Taino indians also painted their bodies as do the Native American Indians, but this was done mainly on special ocassions only. Tainos also wore jewelry during these special ocassions.

Tainos were very skilled wood and stone carvers. This is easily proven by the quality and the craftmanship of the many artifacts found throughout the carribean islands. Tainos were also very adept in agriculture and hunting. They lived in straw huts called "bohios" and wore no clothing except for the married woman, in which case she wore a type of slip called a "nagua".

Even today some of the cities in Puerto Rico retain the names of some of the Taino chieftains that ruled the area. Such names as Utuado, Mayaguez, Arecibo, Caguas and Humacao just to mention a few are very rich in Taino history. Such is the case that the language has been passed down through the generations and still exist in Puerto Rico today.

When Puerto Rico was discoverd by Chistopher Columbus the Spanish language as well as the African language were incorporated with the Taino language to form the native tongue of the Tainos spoken today.

I was born in the city of Phildelphia,Pa. I was third child in a family of six; five boys and one girl, she was the last of course and spoiled rotten. But, we all managed to get along somehow. Through the thick and thin we stuck it out, even with our difference of opinions. The typical "Familia Puertorriquena".

My parents migrated from Puerto Rico in the early 60's just a few years before I was born. We moved around alot when I as young and all that moving has made for an unstable life. I have loving parents, so it was'nt their fault. They did everything they could for us. Times were tough especially for a Puerto Rican family who had just migrated seeking a piece of the American pie. God Bless my parents. I adore them for all they have endured to make our lives a little easier. They made me the man that I am today.

I am a down to earth type of guy. A friend to all the people I have encountered. I try to be nice to everyone. It's the way I was raised, to be kind, considerate and respectful of others. I love nature, life and most of all GOD!

My hobbies include, reading, poetry, movies, romantic dinners, swimming, music, sports, chatting with my friends and arts. My goals are many but the thing I would most like to accomplish is, to return to my beautiful island of Puerto Rico and live there the rest of my days.

A continuacion les ofresco varios enlaces para diversion y algo de educacion sobre los Tainos. Espero lo disfruten como yo lo disfruto y atesoro.
