This is the message that you can hear if you were to play the final lyrics of "I'm So Tired" from the White Album backwards. People have discovered strange phone numbers on album covers and called them. They received replies like "You're getting closer" and "Beware of Abbey Road". Many people started to believe that Paul McCartney was in fact dead.

I have heard that Paul got into a car accident early on a Wednesday morning, around 5 a.m. He was looking at a pretty meter maid instead of at the road, and didn't notice the changing traffic lights. He wasn't killed on impact, but his car burst into flames, a crowd of people gathered around, and he later died from injuries to the head (he lost his hair and teeth). The morning paper released an article which was very quickly censored. Another variation of the story, which was told to me by Mark Mraz, is that Paul was driving along a dark road and saw a pretty girl hitchhiking. He picked her up. As he drove down the road, the girl realized who had picked her up and got so excited about being in the same car with one of the Beatles that she jumped all over Paul. This caused him to lose control of the car and crash, therefore killing himself. Then came William Campbell.

One day, a Paul McCartney look-alike contest was held. The winner was a man named William Campbell, and he allegedly looked enough like Paul to pose with the other Beatles for pictures. There is a small picture of William Campbell on the poster that came with the White Album. He is in the lower left-hand corner, wearing glasses and a moustache.

However, this story could very well be a hoax. Some believe it was either started when a DJ stated that he believed Paul McCartney was dead and that the clues could be found in albums and songs, or when a group of Columbia students had a little too much smoke in their systems and started hearing things in the Beatles' songs.

The purpose of this page is to allow you to form your own opinion about the "death" of Paul McCartney. You will now find an explanation of album covers and song lyrics and why they are clues to this story.

DISCLAIMER: I do not believe that Paul McCartney is dead. These clues may be entirely fictional, and people may have read into them a little too much, but they are there. This page just shows you why and how people came to believe that Paul was dead. If you would like to share your personal opinion with others, please scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the button called "Assembly", which will take you to my message boards. Feel free to post your opinions/messages there!
