A bit of Norwich trivia: On January 5, 1796, "America's First President," Samuel Huntington, died, and was buried in Norwich. Huntington was chosen president of the Continental Congress, and, while president in 1781, the Articles of Confederation went into effect, making him the first president of the United States. Huntington was a resident of Norwich and had a law practice in town. In 1786 he became governor of Connecticut. --------------
Look At This! is within walking distance of the historic Norwichtown Green, on the Norwichtown Walking Tour route. The Samuel Huntington House at 34 East Town St. is on the walking tour. The site of Benedict Arnold's birthplace is less than a mile away, at the corner of Washington St. and Arnold Place.
