Welcome to my website. My name is David Thompson, and I'm a 33 year old journalist currently writing for an online music magazine called Altar Native. I've been writing for A.N. since around June of 1999. I also cover A&E for my college newspaper, The Live Wire. Since the early points of my life, music has encompassed my life in one fashion or another. Whether it was going to concerts and breathing in the local or national music scene, playing live in bands and experiencing the thrill of live performances or writing about the music that moves me (either good or bad; I believe music worth listening to should evoke some sort of mood). I spent many days locked in my bedroom, the stereo blasting, writing mock interviews or reviews. I am a Communications major (Journalism Option minor) at Manchester Community College in Connecticut. At MCC, I credit one person with helping to shape my journalistic skills to their razor-sharp edge. Her name is Susan Plese, and she is Associate Professor of Journalism. The other two people who are indelibly cemented in my psyche as major influences on me are my wife/soulmate, Dawn, who has had a tough uphill climb in keeping me on the chosen path, but without her unfettered love and support, I would be nothing. The other major influence is Omar Perez, my editor at Altar Native. His help and guidance have made him a mentor and influence. Some of my greatest influences are: P.J. O'Rourke, Hunter S. Thompson, William S. Burroughs, Allan Ginsberg, and Omar Perez. Within this site, I will feature the articles and reviews I have written (early on in my career as well as new pieces), which editors and interested parties may peruse. Please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think of my writing. Thanks! (Side Note: The reviews portion of my site is split into two sections; live and cd's)
