Girl Scout Leader Survival Kits

Girl Scout Leader's Change Purse

Author: Anne Simmons-Western Reserve Girl Scout Council-Akron, Ohio

contains a SMILE

When you wear your smile it lifts the spirits of others, spreads a little laughter, warms a cold heart, and calms the fears of a child. Your smile can bring change to all you meet.

and a CANDLE

When you light your candle it sheds a small light, spreads a golden glow, gives a gentle warth and lights another candle. The candle light represents the change your life can bring to others.

a small PEBBLE

Just as your pebble, when tossed into the water, causes those waters to dance & the ripples to spread, so too, you, working, living, being with others can bring change to their lives.

and a HEART

The heart represents your life which can bring light, warth, music & joy into the lives of those around you. Your precious life can do anything for anyone, anywhere, anytime. Working with others, your life can bring CHANGE

A POEM FOR THE START OF THE YEAR:

Leader's Survival Kit

Author: Unknown

It's that time again to plan and think
And look at the year that will go by in a wink.
A problem or two will arise here and there
Not one unconquered because you care.
You will give your best to the world of Girl Scouts,
Our "promise" to be upheld without any doubts.
But maybe, just maybe, you'll grow rather weary,
And wonder if you can remain bright and cheery.
If so, we hope these items will play their part
In helping you to get your second start,
To get you through the thin and thick
And let your smile do the trick!
Your kit includes: Suggestions

A Personal Survival Kit

It's time again to pause and reflect
And look at the year in retrospect.
A Problem or two arose here and there
Not one went unconquered because you cared.
You gave your best to the World of Girl Scouts
Our promise upheld with out any doubts.

But maybe, just maybe, you grew rather weary
And wondered if you could remain bright and cheery.
If so...open this package. It's small compensation
For the damages done. Use without reservation.

The bandaids you use to heal the small hurt
If someone to you got a little bit curt.
The match you then strike up, this friendship renew.
Touch the match to the candle, let the light shine through.
And why the rubber band, you're ready to ask?
Flexibility and giving it means, for each task.

Next, a small paper clip is in this box too.
"Together" it keeps it all for you.
The candy -- you guessed it-- is to sweeten your day
Cause we know you'll keep sharing your love through May.

Whether Leader, Assistant or one who consults,
You are ever concerned to get best results.
With thanks, many thanks, we are bursting with pride,
The button which popped is contained inside.
Now keep or use the survial kit, Dear,
And we hope to see you back next year.
