Marco is owned by Michelle and Fred. She came to live with them in January, 1997 at the age of 13 weeks. She was hatched in Naples, Florida and is currently living in Bristol CT. Her vocabulary consists of a great "Hello", "I'm Marco" and "I love you." She delights in saying her name so much she's attached it to everything, coming up with "Hello, Marco" and "I love Marco."She also mimics a very stern "Step up" which is the command she's given when her parents want her to perch on their arm. She surprised them with a high pitched "Wanna treat?" one morning. Marco hears that a lot because she's so spoiled. When fed some tidbit she particularly enjoys she lets them know by saying " MMMMMMMMM." This varies in tone according to how much she actually likes it. From there it was easy to concoct "Wanna kiss?" followed by the kiss sound. "Come here, Marco, come here", "Look" and ""What's that?" are other phrases she's mastered. When Marco vacationed at the Birdy Motel while her mom and dad were on vacation all the attendants reported they were well aware of her name by the time she left. In fact a few of the other residents thought their names were Marco too!
Marco spent the winter of 2001 with her second family, her next door neighbors Paula, Keenan, Kristen, Kayla and their dog Kopper. Now when Marco is on her perch outside she frequently calls "Kopper" to come visit. She also picked up the phrases "What's the matter?" and "Want another one?" during her stay there.
Some of her favorite activities are hanging by one toe and scaring her mom, making mincemeat out of any and everything within her reach,including the bathroom wallpaper, but that was alright since the bathroom needed redecorating anyway, and riding her remote control car, equipped with perch by her dad. Photos of this amazing fete are now available for viewing. Marco also can't resist air conditioning every shirt her mom and dad own. She has to poke that beak through the material in spite of repeated scoldings. All button down colors are flapping in the wind thanks to Marco too. This scrupulously clean macaw also delights in taking showers either alone or with her dad. (No photos available)
