Helena Polka Lyrics
Album

Helena Polka is sung on Frank Yankovic's Favorite Polkas, and Barbara Polka
on The Big Fifteen Polkas by "various artists" -- this track by Lou Prohut,
other tracks by Joe Rock, Stan Wolowic, and Ted Maksymowicz. The former is still available on a re-released CD, Greatest Polkas and Waltzes Volume 2,
on the Quicksilver label. (You can get it from Amazon.) As far as I know
the latter is no longer in print.
Here are the lyrics, as nearly as Bill Smythe could decipher them by listening to the LPs:

Helena my Helena you are such a lovely girl
My heart is in a whirl
My sweetheart precious pearl
Helena my Helena well I gave my love to you
You said you loved me too
And my dream of dreams came true

Oh how I love to kiss
The lovely lips of Helena
In all my dreams there's a day so fine
The day I make Helena mine

Helena my Helena come and take my heart away
Forever and a day
Stay with me come what may
Helena my Helena well the skies all gray or blue
I promise to be true
And to stay in love with you

In all my dreams there's a day so fine
The day I make Helena mine

Well I went to Vershel Vipsie on a sunny day
On a sunny day
On a sunny day
There I met a pretty maid who stole my heart away
She was pretty dressed in white
She looked so very good to me
She was such a pretty sight
To whom I sang this melody

My charming little Barbara
Come share your love with me
So then if you'll say yes my Barbara
How happy we will be

It was then she gave her answer
That can't be too soon
That can't be too soon
For our honeymoon
We shall always be together morning night and noon
When we're married then is fun
For life we two shall ever be
Later on our family will grow and there'll be one two three

My charming little Barbara
Come share your love with me
So then if you'll say yes my Barbara
How happy we will be
