There was a great moon kingdom, and long reign of peace and prosperity that was to be known as the silver millenium. But, as all things end, so did this, with the onslaught of Queen Metallia and her forces, the great Kingdom was laid to waste. But the story did not end there, for the dying Queen of the Moon Kingdom had used her last moments to send the souls of the Warrior Princess' of the solar system, including her own daughter, a thousand years into the future to be reborn.

This group of warriors fought many battles over the years, and eventually created a utopia, but 452 years later, their utopia has become a mockery. The malicous Queen Despayre inherited the throne, and what was once a bastion of light, became mired by cruelty and despotism. Using her Royal guard as her personal grunts, the Queen attempted to ruthlessly terminate any she perceived a threat, including the brilliant, but independent, scientist Dr. Emmanuel Light, whose groundbreaking research into the nature of senshi powers, she perceived as a threat.

But the crafty Dr. avoided the Queen's swift attack and went underground. He toiled for years with the help of small rebel factions that had sprung up in response to the Queen's tyrannical rule, and eventually using his years of research into the powers of the senshi, he managed to find a way to create senshi, using technology. He knows his senshi are too weak and too few to directly confront the Queen, but by sending them on secret missions, they strike back as best they can. Still he knows the only way to return Crystal Tokyo to its former glory, is to reunite all five of the missing pieces of the ginzuishou crystal, and summon the spirit of the first Queen of Crystal Tokyo. The task won't be easy, especially since the Queen already has one piece and is searching for the rest as well, hoping to use its power to maker herself a God.

Setting up a seemingly mundane private boarding school, the “Crystal Academy for the Gifted” as a front for his rebel activities, Dr. Bright turned the underground of the school into a state of the art lab/training facility, and began recruiting students to be soldiers in coming war.
