Favorite NBA players

LeBron James

LeBron James, also known as the chosen one was a high-school phenomenon, a superstar, the next Jordan. These are just some of the names LeBron James has gotten without even playing a game in the NBA. He was drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers and has lived up to all the hype. He is leading all rookies in scoring and is among the top of the league leaders in scoring also. He came to the NBA just after finishing high school and is only 19 years old.

Kevin Garnett

Kevin Garnett is another player that came straight out of high school. He had to prove himself and that’s exactly what he did. In 1995 he was drafted by the Minnesota TimberWolves. Today, he is an explosive veteran who is ranked the best all around player in the league. Kevin Garnett is ranked 4th in points per game (24.7), 1st in rebounds per game (14), 1st in double-doubles (52), 10th in blocks per game (2.23), 9th in minutes per game (39.8) and 13th in field goal percentage (0.494). This just shows you how great Kevin Garnett is.

Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is not only the top player of his era, but is quite possibly the best player ever to wear the uniform of an NBA team. A legend on the court, Jordan added to his mystique with a totally unexpected retirement just before the 1993-94 season. If anything, Jordan was even more spectacular in postseason play. Prior to his retirement he had averaged below 30 points per game in the postseason only once (29.3 points per game in his rookie year). In the 1985-86 postseason he poured in an astounding 43.7 points per contest. He left basketball temporarily in 1993 as a three-time Finals MVP, and he owned a career playoff average of 34.7 points per game, the best in NBA history. He also had two Olympic gold medals to show for his participation on Team USA in 1984 and 1992. More than just a scoring machine, Jordan also showed that he was a leader and a winner by guiding Chicago to a trio of NBA Championships. As a rookie, he joined a Bulls team that had won only 28 games the previous season. By 1991 the club had topped 60 wins during the regular season while winning the first of three consecutive titles.

Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain was basketball’s unstoppable force, the most awesome offensive force that the game has ever seen. Double-teams and triple-teams couldn’t shut him down. He was a player capable of scoring and rebounding in huge numbers. He was the only NBA player to score 4,000 points in a season. He set NBA single-game records for most points (100), most consecutive field goals (18) and most rebounds (55). Perhaps his most impressive stat was the 50.4 points per game that he averaged during the 1961-62 season and the 48.5 minutes per game he averaged that same year (weird isn’t, there are only 48 minutes in a game). But the most outstanding figures are his scoring records; Most games with 50+ points (118), most consecutive games with 40+ points (14) Most consecutive games with 30+ points, (65), most consecutive games with 20+ points (126) Highest rookie scoring average, (37.6 points per game), highest field goal percentage in a season, (0.727). And with many of these, the player in second place is far behind. His name appears so often in the scoring record books.
