Clan Gangrel

Clan Antediluvian/Status: Ennoia/ACTIVE

Clan History: Until just recently, Clan Gangrel was a member of the Camarilla. For reasons unknown to the others, they left without an explanation whatsoever. Rumor spread that they left because they were sick of being the Camarilla’s army.

While the Brujah are fierce warriors because of their anger, the Gangrel are even better because of their inhuman animalistic tendencies. As the most bestial of the clans, they are ferocious and unstoppable when they choose to be. Most of the time, however, they’re just watchful and forever vigilant, oftentimes foreseeing things even before the watchful Nosferatu have even caught the first whiff of danger.

History places the Gangrel Antediluvian, Ennoia, as the daughter of Lilith and Adam. Born after her mother’s expulsion from Eden, Ennoia was raised in a pack of wolves. She chose one as a mate and thus the Garou were created. The Mages are also the supposed legacy of Ennoia, though the honor of the first Mage belongs to Caine's younger brother and ghoul, Seth.

Perhaps this explains the connection between the Gangrel and the Garou. Perhaps one day the truth with come out. Until then, the Gangrel have their own reasons for doing what they do.

It should be noted that Ennoia is the only active Antediluvian not to be a part of the Jyhad and refuses to direct her clan to any specific purpose, as far as we can tell. It is also said that Ennoia’s mortal descendants are the Rom or Gypsies.

Clan Disciplines: Animalism, Protean, Fortitude

Clan Advantage: Gangrel are wanderers and as such are more capable than most in surviving the wilderness. In fact, unknown except to themselves, they display a "scent" that the Garou find inoffensive (as long as their Humanity remains above 3) which has much to do with their cosmological beliefs.

Gangrel are the only Kindred that may learn about Garou lore, due to silent observation over time.

Clan Weakness: Each time a Gangrel frenzies, he gains an animalistic feature, such as a bear-like muzzle or furry feet. The Storyteller determines the feature. Additionally, after five frenzies, the Gangrel's social skills suffer because of the awakening of the animal within him.

Bloodlines: The Sabbat has the City Gangrel, who gain urban animal features after each frenzy (such as a dog tail or a rat's whiskers).
