Columns
In this section, titled "Columns", you will find all of my own ideas and written columns in response to things in the world. If you are offended by what others might say, you might not want to read some of this stuff. That said, here's what I've got to say right now.
Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?
That is a quote from none other than our president, George W. Bush. Although this article really has nothing to do with learning, it fits properly because of Bush’s children, Jenna and Barbara.
The first time I saw these two and heard they were Dubya’s daughters I thought there was no way in hell they were related to him. As time went on I saw more and more about them and found it was true and not only were they his daughters, they were twins. Even better.
It seems in this day and age that twins, especially hot ones, are all over the place. The Coors Light twins, the Olsen twins, and now these two. In the most recent issue of Newsweek Magazine there is a picture of the Bush family sitting around watching the outcome of the 2004 election. As I looked at the picture I found the two sisters, one sitting next to her mom on the arm of the couch, the other sitting comfortably next to some dude. Now, when I say sitting next to him, I don’t mean just sitting, this guy has gone all out in front of Dubya and put his arm around the president’s daughter. That doesn’t bug me but what does is this tool has his arm around her. Seriously, if this is her boyfriend, I feel sorry for her and the Bush family. She could do so much better. Hopefully the other Bush girl has better taste, cause her sisters “friend” is a complete cake boy. He looks like he should be at home listening to Pete Yorn and crying about why his life is so utterly worthless. What a waste.
Anyways, back to the twins themselves. Honestly, where do they get their looks? I’m not saying the Bush family is a bunch of ugly people but come on, these two came out of nowhere! What makes them eve hotter is the fact that the entire world knows they LOVE alcohol! Remember those underage charges? Hell yeah Bush twins, welcome to the cool club, glad we can be in the same boat in this category. I got an underage right before my 21st, so I must rock just as hard as the Bush family does. I guess it would make sense, though, Dubya does have two known DUI’s on his record. But those were in his younger days and we have forgiven him.
So Jenna and Barbara, if you read this, understand that although your dad is the president, we follow you. Amen.
Jenna and Barbara Bush
P.S. Barbara is the hotter one with brown hair and hard nipples.
The 2004 Election: Thank God it’s Over
Although the race was tight and both candidates had a tremendous amount of followers, I for one am extremely glad to see this election end. No more advertisements on television bashing Bush and Kerry, no more bickering amongst co-workers about who was better, and no more worrying about who was the better pick for the presidency. America has spoken and there is no changing that.
I voted, so therefore my opinion does count. I liked some of both of these guys and their ideas but I agree with what many politicians and columnists had to say about John Kerry: he lost because he changed his mind too much. In one interview I saw on CNN, I think the nail was hit right on the head. Kerry lost this race because of his vote on the war in Iraq. He voted against, then voted for, and when this was spread around it changed a lot of peoples minds on how he looked at our soldiers along with the war. Yes, Bush had his own problems and mistakes while running the United States but many people disagreed with the fact that Kerry was always indecisive about things.
Findlay has a majority of republicans in the city and it’s no surprise that there were so many people who came for the turnout when he arrived here in Findlay. I watched the news coverage of it and thought that it was a rather well delivered speech and that Bush was on top of things. Although the speech was short, he hit every spot he needed to hit before boarding back on Air Force One and heading to Michigan.
Kerry was a formidable opponent and who knows where this election would have gone if Ohio had gone earlier to Bush or Kerry. But like I said, one thing is for sure, I am glad as hell that this election is finally over. Love him or hate him, Dubya has the office for four more years.
Gay Marriage
Before anyone reads this and gets it in their mind that I am some homophobic asshole, rest assured that I am not. I have absolutely no problem with gay men or women and I never will. I have a gay relative in my family that I’ve grown up knowing is that way and they have been one of the most loving people I’ve ever known, not to mention one of the coolest. I respect how they feel about their life and would never question them on why or how they came about to be gay. Live your life and be happy, it would never change the way I felt towards them, but as always, I’ve got opinions on certain things.
Morally and traditionally, marriage is arranged between a man and a woman. Does this mean that gay people do not have the right to be happy? Absolutely not. I have never fully understood how one can become gay. Are you born with it, do you just grow feelings, or is it a disease? It’s really unexplainable. However, when it comes to marriage, the most common thought that comes to anyone’s mind when someone says “marriage” is a man and a woman bonding their lives together. Not once in my life have I ever heard someone say, “Hey, I’m going to a wedding”, and thought wonder which two women are getting married today? It’s just not meant to be that way. Husbands are intended to be married to wives and vice versa. It’s been that way since people first began to get married.
Another huge topic involved with gay marriage is the question: should gay people be allowed to raise a family? This is a very touchy subject no matter how you approach it and it will probably piss a lot of people off no matter how anyone words it. Anyways, I feel that two gay men, or “partners” if you will, should not be allowed to raise a male child. I know anyone reading this who thinks opposite is going to flip out, but let me explain this. When a man and a woman have a child, the child grows up seeing its mother and father as a couple and either understanding that this is the basis of sexuality or realizing, however gay people do it, that they are gay. Either way, they see the morally correct way, being mom and dad, and if they become gay it’s out of their own free will. If two men are raising a young boy and this boy grows up seeing two men kiss, sleep together, etc… what is this child going to think? Well, since my dad and dad love each other, it must be how the world works. It is so much easier for a child to become a homosexual when put in a world like that than it is for a child to be raised with a mother and father. To me it is just not right for a child that can’t make it’s own decisions to be placed in a family with “parents” of the same sex. I’m not going to go out and do research on this and see if how I feel is true most of the time, but when I think about it, that’s how I feel and I’m not going to think otherwise.
Like I said, I have nothing against you if you are gay. If you really feel like adopting a child, go for it, I am not going to be mad, I just think that the child could easily follow in your footsteps as opposed to the footsteps that most other children have the opportunity to follow in with traditional parenting. However, I will stand firm on my idea that gay marriage is not morally, politically, or traditionally correct. Just look at your mom and dad.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
A couple of days before the election the telephone rang at my house. I picked it up and who do you think was on the other line? You better believe it, Arnold himself. Not only was he trying to persuade anyone that republican was the way to go, but no matter how you felt, you needed to “Get out and flex your muscles on November 2nd.” I laughed and hung up after the advertisement was over.
There is something about this guy that just intrigues me. I can’t really put a finger on it, but what I do know is that if it was legal for him to run for president, I would damn sure vote for him. Who wouldn’t? For Christ’s sake this is Arnold Schwarzenegger we’re talking about here! Could you just imagine how the world would react if the Terminator was our president? No one would want to fuck with us!
Even without the movie star appeal, I agree with a lot of what he is doing out in California. So far from what I have seen he has done a great job with his job and continues to gain support from people all over the place. Granted, I don’t live out in California, but the things I hear and see on the news always appear to be a good job. My opinion might be different if I was a citizen of that state, but I’m not, I’m stuck here in shitty Ohio. Oh well, keep on keeping on Govinator!
