Session Start: Tue Mar 15 19:10:03 2005 Session Ident: #ethresh * Logging #ethresh to 'C:\Documents and Settings\Dave\My Documents\Exalted\Abyssal\Logs\AB-03-15-2005' yeah, more so than state college * Echo has joined #ethresh * Echo is so here. my fucking car broke down AGAIN. its karma baby maybe you were pol pot i must have been so now dad is flipping out trying to find me a car ok, are we ready? It seems like it's been awhile, so I'll do a brief recap roger dodger *Last time on... uh... Dave's Unnamed Abyssal Campaign* "I'll show you!!" Rhemenon shouts at Llarra from out of nowhere. He bounds across the stairs and lunges at Llarra, swinging his jade Tetsubo. Llarra looks shocked at the blow lands directly against her chest. Her eyes bulge and her jade breastplate cracks from under her robes. Llarra cannot even gasp for air as her ribs are crushed and she is propelled backwards to lie in a heap on the marble steps. Confusion rushes through the assembled crowd and a flurry of activity ensues. Some of the citizens run up the steps towards the guards. Others run back into the safety of the city. Yet others merely stare, their mouths agape in stunned silence. Llarra’s loyal priests and guards rush to her side, forming a wall of scruffy brutes between her and any attackers. Rhemenon is swinging his Tetsubo wildly in the air and none seem brave enough to challenge him. Cassius is... gone. Echo, you are on the top of the stairs near Llarra and Rhemenon. Requiem is in the crowd.* * Requiem walks to the bottom of the steps and look up at the chaos. * * Echo pushes his glasses onto the bridge of his nose. Things were going...strangely well. On the whole anyways. If Rhemenon turns his rage towards the priest who spoke against him, Echo would have to reveal his Exalted nature immediatly to handle the threat. However, so long as the Hill Crushing Hero had his gaze fixated upon the sorceress, he could manipulate the crowd. "Listen well to my words, children of Genove." (Echo is at 3/15 personal essence, 26/26 peripheral, 5/6 willpower. Requiem is maxed out.) * Echo clears his throat and holds his hands up to the sky. "You breath in the most blessed air," He then points down at the ground, "And tread upon the most sacred earth. This is where it began once, and where it shall begin anew. Children of Genove...let me hear you." Echo coos, his darkest desires washing over the audience.* And chaos it surely is. None pay the Abyssal girl a second glance. Echo seems to be drawing a number of curious looks however. A large number of people from the crowd cheer towards Echo, but the sound is drowned out by the sounds of clattering blades and dying men's screams. (<---tries to act like the lead singer of Disturbed) * Requiem listens to Echo and has her curiousity piqued. There is more to this priest than meets the eye. She begins to slowly walk up the steps towards him. Mere feet from Requiem Rhemenon turns in a rage, looking at a ring of brave men surrounding him. Perhaps they think their numbers will save them. They think wrong. With a mighty swing Rhemenon slams his Tetsubo into the ground at his feet. Shock waves rush from the point of impact and a violent, yet tiny earthquark rocks the men to their knees. (Earthshaker Attack 5m)* (Opens DB book) (Heh, its a immaculate earth attack. affects everybody within 30 yards. Requiem and Echo are just outside of it's lethal range, but they feel the rumble of the ground) (minor damage. dif 3 dex+ath to avoid, if failed you take 5B and fall prone) (Hey man, 5B does in extras) (especially with the new minimum damage rules) * * Echo shudders as the magics tear through the ground underfoot. Yet his venomous tongue seems to sup upon the destruction, and spit forth more terrible lies. "Let me hear you! Let them all hear you! You cannot be ignored! How much anger have you felt in the last days and months?" Echo holds his hands out, a pearly smile conquering his face. "TELL ME! How much do you HATE them? LET ME HEAR YOU!" He roars.* * Requiem continues to make her way to Echo, though she stumbles about as she tries to regain her footing from the rippling earth. Those in the crowd not fighting for their very lives scream in approval, raising their weapons and fists in the air. A wave of people, previously undecided on joining the violence rush towards the stairs. A group of men push Echo away from the flailing Rhemenon, shielding him. Requiem is caught in the bustle and finds herself side by side with the Abyssal.* * Requiem pulls on Echo's robes * Echo looks down at Requiem, and he, too caught up in the moment, simply lays a hand on Requiems head and takes another step back. "Let the executioner taste his own axe!" Echo hisses, mock laughter seeping from his lips.* * Requiem looks up at Echo. "The crimson flow of this city seems to stream from you priest. Tell me, what are you really?"* Defeating Rhemenon seems to be easier said than done. Of those that fell to the ground from Rhemenon's earthshaking attack, one stumbles to a knee. Before the poor bastard can even look up, the Terrestrial swings his Tetsubo and the man's head is replaced by a puff of blood and chunks of bone. A collective gasp comes from the crowd nearby and everybody takes a step back.* (I never read Requiems description, what does she look like?) (hmm, I'm afraid I never put the picture lance gave me on the web site. Would you like me to post it there lance?) sure http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/l/s/lsc135/Requiem2.jpg * Echo pulls his gaze from the merciless Immaculate avenger for a moment, and looks at Requiem for the first time. Before he had not stopped to appreciate the trappings of death upon her, nor did he appreciate the darkness just behind her eyes. Oh no. An agent of the dead perhaps? Perhaps just some strange Genovian with a thing for black. Still, Genove seemed to be attracting those of awakened Essences.. "My my, what a pretty little girl...you should not be here, child, for great turmoil will erupt momentarily, I'm afraid. Go, find your mother and stay safe, but send your father and brothers to me, for we will all need their strength." Echo grins, a terrible glimmer in his eyes. Get em while they're young, that's what the Guild always said.* (gross) (The Guild- the antagonist you love to hate) "My mother, father, and brother are already with me. You speak with the voice of the void, have you also felt the cold of its empty embrace?" "..." Echo sighs a bit too openly. "Child, -tell- me you're just a weird little girl. I really don't have time to deal with anymore...Anathema right now." Echo crosses his fingers and prays she's just an easy to manipulate Nemissary with a thing for wearing childrens bodies.* * Requiem smiles a cold smile "I'm afraid that my manners extend far beyond a mortal affliction." "Alright, so you're probably Anathema of some variety." Echo leans down and grabs onto Requiems shoulders. "I just hope you're one of -my- variety. Now unless you can fight, I would ask that you stay out of this one. That Hill Crushing Hero could come this way any moment.." Echo trails off, trying to garner a peek over the human shields between he and Rhemenon. Hopefully Llarra or Cassius would step up soon.* "You sorry son of a bitch! You worthless piece of fecal-let go of me!" Llarra screams through blood stained teeth. Her bodyguards are trying to help her to her feet, but she is far too busy shouting in Rhemenon's direction. "Don't touch me!" She shouts once more to those around her. With a wave of her hand a thousand obsidian butterflies rush from elsewhere to send a spiraling cone of death towards Rhemenon. The effect is largely wasted as an attack against the brute since the bulk of the butterflies were absorbed by the dozens of now bleeding humans littering the area.* * Requiem flicks her wrist, producing a slender ivory spike with a black liquid dripping form its tip. (Ivory Spine Attack) * Echo lets go of Requiem and pokes his head up from behind the mass of literal bodyguards. "Well. I suppose the best thing for us to do...is wait. Let them slug it out, butcher one another, whatever. In the meantime, I feel like getting some fresh air. You?" Echo asks even as he begins to slink away into the crowd, seeking higher ground...or just somewhere with a clear line of sight on the brute.* (*wishes he had Twisting Spiteful Shaft*) (hah, yeah) * Requiem stores the needle within the recesses of her clothing. "Very well, let the brute bring death upon the many." (Heh and Walking on Sunshine comes on) The stone tiles of the square before the hall are slick with blood. The air fills with the sound of screaming and dying men. Llarra's guards back away, horrified at her indiscriminate use of her sorcery. A large number of her supporters died to the butterflies. There is now a clear path between the two Terrestrials. Rhemenon stares at Llarra with a sneer. The brutish Exalt charges Llarra, raising his Tetsubo high above him. Llarra closes her eyes to concentrate for a moment. In the instant before Rhemenon reaches her, she opens her eyes and shouts. Her anima banner flares wildly, bringing gusts of wind in every direction. From out of the clouds a guillotine flies towards Rhemenon's neck. Too late the Earth Dragon looks up and stumbles in his attempt to dodge. The guillotine tightens around his neck and swings shut. (If only sorcery were actually that effective.) (indeed) (*was* that effective) *Clank* The magical attack bounces off the heavy armor around Rhemenon's neck. He grins, she opens her mouth in shock. Rhemenon's Tetsubo finds it's mark on the top of her head, crushing it instantly. A hush falls over the crowd.* (Nevermind.) (well I kind of compressed the two turns it took him to run to her, and for her to cast. But yeah, that spell does a badass 18L. Rhemenon is an Earth giant. Soak is his thing.) * "I bet on the wrong horse. You still have that spike?" Echo asks, the cloak hiding his soulsteel arm suddenly expanding as if he clings to a shortbow. It would appear, actually, that that is exactly what happened.* * Requiem produces the spike once again. "I have it, and many more if neccessary. They are coated with a poison that may fell the Mountain if I can pierce his flesh." * No one in the crowd notices the odd array of weaponry you two wield, but the momentum of the revolt seems to be fading. A large circle has formed around Rhemenon, and none dare to come more than 20 yards from him. Perhaps he is invincible?* "That will be enough for now. By all means, dear child, -try- to kill him." Echo grins, throwing his cloak back and revealing his soulsteel arm for all to see. He uses his strong arm to draw back on Azalgrial, the powerbow of shattered essences, and looses a bolt of placid black energy towards Rhemenon. He need only draw blood.* (Drawing from peripheral essence, 5 motes. If he does even a health level of damage the target loses 5 motes per turn) (6 successes on your attack, but his soak reduces your damage to a raw 3L... rolling. He doesn't see the attack in time to dodge btw) (Come on 7's!) (0 successes on the damage roll. He feels the thud on his armor and turns towards you in alarm) (Oh lovely. I haven't hit with that ability -once-) (Did you want to attack Requiem?) (yeah) (11 dice attack, 4 successes. Rhemenon doesn't see the glimmer of the tiny spine coming towards him and makes no move to defend himself.) (holy cow. 3 damage - botched! He doesn't even notice the needle hit.) * Requiem focuses the energy fromt he many deaths into the area into her hand. The rage of the dead forms a black mass surrounding her. She suddenly bolts her hand forward, and the black mass shoots from her screams of the agonized dead filling the air. (Crypt bolt, my maximum which is...) (We are so screwed. Sidereals are helping him.) (nm) (well next round) (Gotta love crypt bolt....the kamehameha of Exalted) (7) (oh, my bad Requiem, I used your needle. Okay, next round, no need to do initiative, you are almost 15 yards away from him with at least 2 dozen people between you.) (Okay! Round two, Requiem's bolt first, then Echo can attack...) (bolt's 8 dice gets 5 successes. This Rhemenon definitely does see and the shock of the magical bolt gives him pause. He aborts to a parry for the turn...) (Haha, suck it Terrestrial. No persistent defenses for you.) (he only gets a single success, his armor absorbs the bulk of the damage (it is 16L soak) but you do your base essence in damage... rolling 3 dice) (much better. 2 successes. He hardly notices the pain. But he know realizes he is up against a supernatural opponent.) (My turn?) (yes sir) * Echo blinks and lowers his bow. "It was...her!" He shouts at Rhemenon, actually expecting the oaf to think he might be telling the truth for a moment. Nevertheless, running becomes distinctly important all of the sudden. For the moment Echo musters up his magic and uses his Incomparable Phantom Form while he still has time to summon the essence, however. He can always run when Rhemenon starts wading into the crowd.* (Incomparable Phantom Form, 5 motes 1 wp.) (The oft used, rarely needed charm that has become a favorite) (very well. You are out of personal essence, at 18/26 peripheral. Beware spending motes before giving your banner a chance to dim. Your caste mark is visible is anybody cares to look closely enough) (Hmmm...now that we get our essence added to our dice pools...I have 16 dodge die! -Nice-) Rhemenon stares dumbly at the two of you. The shock of facing not just mortals freezes him in place. From his distance he can't make out the symbol on Echo's forhead, but can see that something is there. With a gutteral roar he points towards the two of you and screams a desperate guess. "ANATHEMA!!!" The entire crowd turns there collective heads and stare at Echo.* (well, shite) (damage control, damage control!!) * Echo pushes his glasses onto the bridge of his nose. "Anathema is just a word. We are so very, very much more than that. We are avengers, here to claim your damnable life! You dare point your finger at me...at us? You DARE claim -WE- are monsters? Whose weapon is covered in the blood of the innocent?" Echo shouts right back to Rhemenon, throwing an accusatory finger towards the menace. "What are the Anathema? Monsters and destroyers! Killers, obliterators! Heretical annihilators bent on personal power! Yet here I stand, accused by a man who fits that description so aptly, he might as well be himself labeled ANATHEMA! Prove me wrong! Prove to me that I have done you more harm than this beast! He stands in a puddle of the blood of your kinsmen! YOUR CHILDREN!" * Requiem nods. "Indeed, you fill seas with the blood of the innocent. The dead are chanting for your blood Rhemenon. Placate the dead or suffer eternally for the life-essence you have spilled today." * Requiem holds out her staff and focuses on Remenon. (Committing 5 motes to give him doomsday visions) "You will be always haunted until you breathe your last. When you do finally succumb to Death's cold embrace you will be ripped from the wheel of rebirth by those you have angered. For eternity they will feast upon your entrails." "For shame. You are supposed to be a healer and guardian of the people, and look what you've become. Now the so called Anathema stand before you, mocking your monstrous arrogance. How things have changed, Dragon-Blood. You are the Anathema, not we. The tables have turned, and now we stand, avengers of freedom and order, pitted against a foul demon awash in the blood of the guiltless." "All you do in life will come to naught as everything you love crumbles to dust, and you will drown in the blood of your friends and family. Their ghosts will join the armies chanting for your destruction. You will find no solace, not even in your own Gods." * * Echo yells out to the crowd more than to Rhemenon. He is playing his cards, and god help Rhemenon if he wins.* Rhemenon stares in silence, looking from Echo to Requiem to the crowd. His mouth opens, but he cannot seem to find the right words. From behind him, a citizen shouts, “Boo!” and chucks a rock at him. Both Echo and Requiem are correct. In this odd instance, it is they who are liberating these people, Anathema or not. (Ooo, i hope those doomsday visions make him go crazy. ...Crazier.) The rocks and boos continue and the crowd roars in anger. Though none dare to come close the deadly Dragon-Blood, some people are now throwing spears and other sharp objects. Rhemenon cowers in fear and tries to cover his face from the pelting of the crowd. (Awww... now I feel bad.) (Oh well, my conviction outweighs compassion) The Terrestrial suddenly drops his Tetsubo and clutches his head, pulling at his hair. He screams into the air and... runs. The crowd continues their throwing spree following Rhemenon as he heads into the city, but none are dumb enough to attempt to physically stop the brute.* * Requiem smiles and lowers her staff. (Alright, don't like, try to poke him again, it might piss him off) (would it have been nicer to poison him to death, your original plan?) (In a way yes) (This was more fun though) (holding the baby) The crowd backs away from you both, giving you moment of semi-privacy to talk.* * Echo smirks. "Well, that, I can appreciate." Echo chuckles, noticing the mass of people herding Rhemenon away. "Interesting magics, girl. We work well together. Perhaps now you shall tell me your name, so I need not continue referring to you as child?"* (Balls, did i get disconnected?) "My name is "Requiem of Midnight Whispers. Are you the one known as Echo?" * Echo is taken aback for a moment, then shrugs. "In this place, that really depends who is asking. I'm afraid the number of enemies I've amassed is quite...impressive. Surely you understand."* (Thinking back on it, only one guy -really- wants my blood. And he's possessing my old circlemate.) (Crap, who is the guy who contacted me at the start of my backstory?) (The Soul's Twisted Design) (he's also a servant of the Dowanger) (A good one too. Makes a nice zombie factory.) "I was told by The Soul's Twisted Design to find you. He told me he is currently indisposed..." "Ah! Design! Amazing that he tracked me down...but then again, I've had the sad tendency to make my presence woefully well known wherever I've been. In that case, I am The Echoing Words From the Darkness, humble servant of the Bodhissatva Annointed In Dark Waters." "Design didn't mention...my Liege, did he?"* "No, he did not. I serve The Dowager of Irreverent Vulgate in Unrent Viels, just as Design does." "Hmm...very well. I suppose we should see about getting out of this city now. I don't know if you've noticed, but while the Manse remains active, we are stuck here...a luxury I cannot afford at the moment." Echo says, slowly beginning to look about. Hopefully his other two companions were somewhere nearby.* From a window four floors about the square within the main hall, Crimson Tears of Regret sticks her head out and waves. "Hey Echo! I did it, I broke the hearthroom!" She cheers to herself and claps her hands in joy. "I'll meet you down in the foyer!" With that she disappears back into the building.* (*four floors above) "I take it that was one of your friends?" * Echo shakes his head. "Something tells me that witch wouldn't have been so quick to announce that if Rhemenon was still here. And yes, that was Crimson. If you are indeed a messenger of Design, then you should know to watch her. She is...trickier than she appears."* (The foyer is one a few feet from the inside of the main doors, which you are close too.) (too? grr) (Hmmm... the manga I have been reading is apparently one for girls even though it has disembowlings) * Echo eyes the crowd that remains quietly eyeing Requiem and he right back. "You won your freedom today, mortals. Live long, happy lives now, and enjoy the fruits of your labor." With that, Echo enters the Manse, silently wondering exactly what kind of welcome he'll get when he and the others attempt to leave Genove.* (That first sentence makes -no sense-) (wow. That beats the hell out of my normal ramblings) * Requiem follows after him, using her cane as a walking stick. "Bury today's dead and honor them, lest you want them rapping at your doors." The foyer inside the hall is empty, save for Ruin in Vanity and Discord, who is leaning against a way, his arms folded. You notice after a second that the crumpled form of Cassius has fallen on the marble floor. You can see his chest moving slightly, but otherwise he doesn't move. Ruin rolls his eyes as you both enter. "Took you long enough. Can we leave yet?"* (Yeah, the things I do to grammar are so terrible they border on artistic.) "Well I suppose, Crimson said the heartroom is destroyed. Cassius appears ..disabled, Llarra is dead, and Rhemenon is either running scared, or in a corner crying somewhere. Either way is fine with me, if he decides to bar our way I imagine four of us versus him would be a rather poor fight." (*hearthroom) "Oh yes, and may I introduce Requiem of Midnight Whispers. She was sent by an allie, so do *try* to be nice for now."* (Is it ally or allie?) (ally) (Ally looks better) (Then *ally) "I am pleased to meet you." Before Ruin can respond the perky Crimson comes bounding down the stairs in a sickenly happy mood. "We can leave! All thanks to me of course." She grins from ear to ear and looks at the three of you. "Oh Echo, who is your new little friend. Don't tell me you found time to purchase _another_ tiny sex slave." She beams enjoying being a bitch. Ruin gets a puzzled look and says nothing.* "What's a sex slave?" * Echo just...sighs. "Oh Crimson, you certainly are full of energy. Maybe you're hyper because it's that time of the month? I guess that makes two of us that bled today." Echo grins right back, wiping a droplet of blood from his black caste mark.* (See, I've still got my persistent defense up, so if she tries to kick me in the balls I can reflexively dodge.) Crimson snickers and regards Echo. "Well well well. I see I'm rubbing off on somebody." She walks past the one-armed man and pats Requiem on the head. "Don't worry hunny bunny, I'll show you all my tricks." Ruin rubs his eyes and sighs. (haha, good try, but crazy anime bitches attacks are impossible to dodge!) (<---sweat drop) Ruin cracks his knuckles and looks at Requiem, giving her a thoughtfull nod in greeting. "So four Abyssals all meeting up in one place. Too much to be a coincidence, don't you think?"* (http://c-uncut.com/media/dis-flonne2.jpg expression like the third from left on the top row) (Haha, nice pics) "Whatever path we follow it has been paved for us. Coincidence is not a word we can use." (And Walking on Sunshine comes on again) "Agreed. Our way to Bluehaven seems set, and somehow I doubt anything would permit us to stray from our course. Now all we have to do is worry about what is there, waiting for us."* Ruin nods. Then I suggest we get going at first light tomorrow. Assuming of course the locals won't kill us in our sleep. That was quite a show you two put on out there."* "What can I say, I try. Besides, these Anathema just saved their asses." "And by the way...thanks a ton for showing up when Rhemenon was getting ready to charge us." Echo thumbs his nose.* (...at Ruin) "There's more of that help comin'." He begins to walk away, but turns his head at the last second to give you a hard look. "You can count on it." He leaves without another word. Crimson stares at him as he leaves. She shrugs, "I guess that was a big 'screw you too pal'. Aren't we the happy family?"* * Requiem is happy her family comes along with her (you two may talk amoung yourselves if you like, or we can wrap it up there for the night) "Indeed. Well I suppose we should try to get some rest. And remember our deal Crimson. Try to avoid killing -anyone- tonight. I, for one, have a dinner date with my good friend Cassius." Echo smirks, giving the slumped body a swift kick. "Isn't that right Cassius? Of course it is."* "Rest would be very well appreciated." (VAMPIRED!) * Requiem yawns (creepy) (I used a lot of essence. Cassius=motes.) And thus ends the oddly long story of Genove, which was originally meant to occupy perhaps two or three sessions at most. Oh well. The good news is it's training time! Exp! woo! My calculations put Requiem's experience to spend at 49. 48 new and 1 unspent from last time. Echo's is at 59. 56 from the current adventures with a +8 bonus for RP throughout the campaign thus far, +3 unspent from last time. Training times are suspended and are not an issue. mm, xp (woohoo) (Hmmm... I seem to have aquired another iStalker) 132 total xp thus far for me. those are the worst kinds of stalkers if you'd like to know what kinds of situations you'll be running into in the near future I can let you know iStalker? Internet Stalker that's what I assumed, but what is it, someone who keeps AIM'ing you? No, in this case it comes over Facebook, which is sort of like a little college thingy where you post interests and can diagram your circle of friends etc. Every month or so a different woman starts sending me messages asking about my personal life well that's good And how we should meet up some time because we have so much in common and then you see her picture and she isn't a she that's why you shave before you put on the wig No... the picture is of a woman not bad looking... but not terribly good looking either Plus I don't trust the Internet Plus I might have a date with a vet well if it doesn't look like a model it might actually be her real picture a vet? you're dating a veteran? yeah, you know the guys from vietnam Well, someone studying to be a vet i'm studying to be a vet hopefully i'll have my degree sometime in august, when i go off orders and officially become a veteran. w00t. alright, that's enough babble out of me for one night Yeah, I gotta go lift. Seeya all next year * Requiem has quit IRC later next year? maybe he's chinese isn't that around now? i thought it was already the new year hmm i think i'll make a combo good idea ugh, archery combo...so painful 13 motes, 2 wp this'll likely be your last big exp spending spree before the campaign comes to an end so spend wisely 15 motes, 3 wp... sigh combos hurt and just think, the guy can just perfect defense out of it well, he'd have to perfect defense each attack comboing with the extra action charm ah, yes that would be tough oh, and you can tell dad something make him feel better I got an odd call this afternoon from peach bottom, they'd like to interview me. oo fantastic you will do it, yes? I'll go and I guess I'll take the job if they offer it. If I'm going nowhere in security I might as well get paid well for it exactly until I find something else. Or I'll love it (unlikely) work is what you make it I hate the schedule.. but 17$ an hour wow, $17 shit yeah, I was surprised too sign me up meh, they might not even offer me the job rosanne was getting about that at Blueball for awhile, and she has, what, 30 year of -excellent- corporate experience? but anytype of day work Monday-Friday job will take me awhile to land, so I might as well make some cash well you might as well try yep yep make yourself appear as somebody who intends to climb the ranks quickly, rather than a lowly servitor so what happened to your car this time? well my radio turned off as i was going home that worried me but i turned it back on, and it worked fine again...for ten minutes. Then it died again at this point i turned off my headlights and felt my engine sputter a bit, but kept going. uhoh got to the exit, noticed that my RPMs changed based on if i had my lights on or if my turn signal was on the RPM meter literally went to zero when my turn signal flicked on, and in the instant in between blinks it went back up to 1 always heartening then finally my speedometer and tac just read zero all the time, all my electric was out and my engine was sputtering i managed to get home (barely)...rode the inertia into the parking spot dad jumped it, and I (barely) got to the garage before it died again so alternator or battery geez hopefully nobody will demand the repair history of this car when you sell it no kidding Session Close: Tue Mar 15 21:48:13 2005
