The Aftermath of the Chinese Cultural Revolution

Events happening after the Revolution...

The Death of Mao

Chairman Mao had been the powerful ruler over China during the Revolution, but his power came to an end on September 9th, 1976, when his age took the best of him. Mao had routinely been involved in bad habits relating to hygiene and sleep. He would continuously not bathe as well as not sleep on several occasions. This cummulation of unhealthiness along with stress from ruling over a deteriorating country, caused an early yet much waited upon death by much of the Chinese sufferers.

Although some secretly were grateful of his departure, the abundancy of China grieved over his death. This was because although he brought lots of pain to China, he was still considered a hero who established China for the people.

The Fall of the Gang of Four

In order to weaken China's Communistic government, the Gang of Four attempted to weaken China's Military Power. The Gang tried to turn Shanghai into a base where they would take power away from the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). Then they commanded the lower class to prepare for the attack. To show the evil ways of the Gang of Four, they people had the Gang of Four become more publicized so others could be more aware of their wrong doings.

The Gang of Four was destroyed in October when the CCp began to attack and deal with each member (without using violence). All members were sent to prison and China was overjoyed and celebrated.

China's Recovery

To celebrate the destruction of te Gang of Four, the Chinese drank in victory. This caused liquor sales to sky rocket for a period of time and throughout October, many joyous and exuberant parades were held. The destruction of the Gang of Four ended the Chinese Cultural Revolution. This left a large landmark in the Chinese history that also gave them a huge economical development. China was able to learn from its mistake, and non-communist parties have been ruling since. Since the revolution, China has been able to interact more with other countries and has developed in technology, education, and other areas.

In conclusion, although the Chinese Cultural Revolution was a very hard time for China, it was a great mistake that the whole world has been able to learn and from from.
