Chapter 1

“Is that everything?” asked as he heaved the last suitcase through the door.
“Erm….yeah I think so” mumbled, scanning her new house. The house however, was not new altogether to . It belonged to her closest friends, the only people she classed as friends, the friends that rescued her, and now, the only place that had ever felt like home, was about to become her home, as was moving in.

“Thanks for all this ”…
“Look, shut up, none of that ok! You know you belong here; I’m just sorry you couldn’t come sooner. We want you here.” heartfully comforted .
knew though, that this was the only place she wanted to be. Her 4 closest friends, , , and had stuck with her through thick and thin, but it was now, more than ever that she needed them, as they were all she had.
They had offered her a place in their new house many times before, but it was only now, 5 months after her Mothers death that she accepted the place. It was a big step for , but she knew it was one that had to be taken for her to try and re-start her life.
It had been a tough time for . She had grown up living everyday of her life in fear. Fear from her bullying, alcoholic of a father. Her Mother, having to withstand the violent blows of her Fathers fist daily, whilst she had to sit back and watch, and often be beaten herself had ruined since as long as she can remember. Her Mum, despite being the incredibly strong person she was, was too frightened to put a stop to the pain, and foolishly claimed, “It’s not my fault, but I love him.” as her excuse.

“Hi excitedly welcomed as her and entered the living room where , and already were, watching the TV so it seemed.
“Hey , hey guys!” hugged each in turn.

“Anyone want a drink?” offered. mentally took his orders and went to the kitchen to fetch the drinks. followed him offering to help him out.
“Thanks so much guys” smiled to and , the only 2 left in the room with her.
“Look, stop saying thankyou, there’s no need. You’re like a broken record!” joked. But couldn’t help it. She had every right to thank them non-stop, and it would never be enough she felt, to repay them for everything they had ever done for her over the years, and many years it had been too…
first met at secondary school, 9 years ago. They had been great friends, and their mutual love for singing only emphasized their close bond. They kept in touch, even when they were separated after school, and went to Guildhall to pursue his dream, while was left to stay at home without the money or support to continue her education of one day becoming a singer.
And that’s how she met the other 3, , and . Them and formed a barbershop quartet in college, and regularly did things such as busking in Covent Garden to bring in the cash while they studied. would often meet up with the lads of a weekend, and would sometimes sneak into their dorm rooms for overnight stays, and eventually, they all grew incredibly close. had a few people she classed as friends, but none of which she valued as much as these 4. Although, she did have 1 other best friend, her name is , and the 2 met due to living in the same area, and attending the same primary schools, and kept in touch all the time, and often met up for girlie chats and days out.
About a year ago now, her 4 male friends entered a talent show named “The X Factor” just for the crack of it, but ended up finishing in second place, and emerged as the newest most successful act of their debut year, with a double platinum album and a sell out UK tour already under their belts. at one point did start to fear that they would forget about her, and leave her behind, but their friendship was too strong for that, and they only all grew closer as a result. supported them 150%, going to as many of their shows and public appearances as she could. Although her friends had pursued their dreams and made it big, and deservedly so, there was no smidging of jealousy or hard feelings carried against them because they had made it and she hadn’t. She was too proud and happy for them to even think about something like that.
It was lucky that did have however, as with G4 now formed and their high career demand causing them to not always be there when needed, was very grateful to in recent times for always being there whenever might have needed her. It had been a hard year, and almost exactly a year ago was when ’s father had eventually been discovered and locked up in prison for 15 years for charges of child abuse and ABH. But throughout everything, was lucky enough to have friends like she did, as they were always there for her.
It was hard for and her Mum to cope with, so hard in fact, that it got a bit too much, and ’s Mum passed away after losing a battles with 2 major strokes, which the doctors never did identify a cause for, although, it was pretty obvious why they had happened…
And that’s why, 6 months later, after starting to put her past behind her, has moved in with her best friends, and is attempting to start a new, even though it will be tough. But despite the steps forwarded, and changes made, , at only 20 years, and after seeing what her Mum was put through, has only one thing she has promised to herself. For fear of being stuck in the hell that her mother was…. that personal promise, that she vowed never to break, was never to fall in love…
