Starlight was born in 1998. He belonged to someone who had worked with him the first 3 yrs of his life. His owner then had a heart attack. After that Starlight was sent to a "professional" trainer. The trainer clubbed him upside the head for rearing. The blow fractured his skull and eye socket. This caused a tumor in his brain. He was trailered to Michigan State and assessed. It was determined that he would not recover and he was put down.
Many people can claim to be a "professional trainer." If you choose to send a horse out for training know first what methods of discipline the trainer uses. This was a cruel way to deal with any horse and Starlight lost his life due to the way he was treated.
