Libby came into the program as a 23yr old. She had foundered badly and the coffin bone had rotated through the bottom of her foot. With specialized care from a volunteers, a Vet and a Farrier a special boot was made for her. Her hooves had to be packed and cleaned twice a day. The farrier then made a special shoe with a bar that put pressure on the bone. Over time it rotated the bone back into position. She was eventually sound and rideable again! She is still being lightly ridden and well cared for at 36yrs old.
In most other situations this horse would have been destroyed. Because volunteers cared and took the time to provide her the special care she needed she has been able to live a very full life!
