Ben, 25yr old Polish Arabian

Ben came to us in the spring of 2006. He is an older retired 4H show horse with an old injury to one hip.

He was rescued him from being sold at an auction by a wonderful family who knew him & whose daughter had shown with his previous family for years. They acquired him and kept him for over two years.

Due to him not getting used enough and because he was older & he was picked on by the other horses he lost some weight and muscle over the winter. This family loved him dearly and decided it would may best for him to have a little girl to spoil him yet again.

It took over 3 months to get his weight and muscle up. (Old Arabs can be SO hard to keep weight on...) Getting ridden by light weight kids did wonders for him too.

He was successfully placed and is VERY LOVED by a young girl. Ben also rescued her love and desire for horses.

Her parents had previously bought her a pony... who ended up being more than she could handle. He bucked and reared and almost ruined her love and joy of horses not to mention her confidence.

Ben has given that back to her... and she has given him a reason to live too. What could be better for this old horse, than the complete love and devotion of a child.

Ben, Reconditioned and ready for placement...

This is Ben when he was with one of our foster families, getting into shape again. He was a hard horse to get weight on. But is now maintaining his weight and getting used lightly has helped to keep him moving better and he has has less problems with being stiff.

We ALL have gotten VERY attached to this horse. He is a one in a million!!! I am so glad he did end up at auction. He is a gem! Thank You... to the family that cared enough to rescue him from that fate, and donate him to Horse North Inc's rescue and placement program.

Ben is presently placed.
