The cost of higher education shouldnt stop you from reaching your goals in life. In the Army National Guard, you can get the money you need to help pay for a college education or vocational training program. Together with your monthly drill pay and allowances, the Guard offers a generous list of federal and state education benefits that can help pay those school bills. The Montgomery GI Bill provides a monthly stipend over a 36-month period. State benefits, which vary by state, range from a specific amount per semester to full tuition waivers at state colleges and universities. Benefits for now and later: A monthly paycheck. The Montgomery GI Bill pays you up to $282 a month for full-time college (or other approved technical training) enrollment with no contribution from you. Up to $1,500 a year to help repay existing student loans. From $3,000 up to $8,000 as an Enlistment Bonus.Reimbursement of up to 75% of tuition, up to $200 per credit hour, or up to $4,000 per fiscal year (1 October to 30 September). Most states offer their own educational incentives--some as much as 100% free tuition. One great benefit of the Guard is that you can serve while successfully attending school, which allows you to go to school full-time or part-time, and to complete most of your military obligation by the time you graduate from college. Start benefiting right away. A number of your educational benefits begin as soon as you enlist in the Army National Guard. These include free SAT and GRE testing, CLEP exams, and Federal or ACES Tuition Assistance. When you complete your basic and advanced individual training, you will be eligible for the Montgomery GI Bill and the Army National Guard College Fund, which is the National Guards supplement to the Montgomery GI Bill.
