Assistance dogs can do many different things. It all depends on the owner as to how much help they need.

Some of the different tasks are :-

• opening and closing doors
• picking up items which are on the floor and dropping them on the owners lap
• switching on and off lights
• bracing themselves to give the user support when standing or transfering
• carrying items in a small back pack
• helping take off gloves, coats, socks, untie shoes
• pulling a wheelchair
• the dog can attract attention if the owner is in any danger, or needs assistance
