Arroyo Grande-

Sea Kings Enjoy Successful Road Trip

The Sea Kings finished in second place in pool-play at Arroyo Grande. Led by Pancho Seaborn, who received an All First Team award, the Sea Kings beat the tournament's host, Lompoc, and San Luis Obispo. Their only loss was to unbeaten Atascadero. The only bad news that CdM suffered during their stay was a broken collarbone to starting guard, Brett Hirata. Brett hopes to make it back for the postseason. CdM ended their trip strong with a comeback victory over San Luis Obispo. After trailing 51-46 after three quarters, the Sea Kings rallied for a 61-57 victory. The win made the long car ride home a lot more enjoyable. Other highlights from the trip include an 80-44 thrashing over Lompoc and 66-40 route over Arroyo Grande in the opening game.

Coach Curry Receives First Postseason Victory at CdM

The Sea Kings came out with a vengance in round one of the Southern Section Division III-A playoffs. They posted a 75-50 victory over favored Vista Del Lago. The home team could not handle Pancho Seaborn, who led CdM with 29 points including 7 three pointers. The Sea Kings had it won from the opening tip, jumping off to a 17-4 start. The Ravens didn't know what hit them, but they could not stop the energetic Sea King group. CdM will advance to the second round and host No. 4 seeded La Canada on Friday night.

CdM Eliminated from Postseason Play

The Sea Kings were able to post a 27-25 lead in the third quarter of Friday's second-round postseason game, but couldn't finish off visiting La Canada. In what turned out to be a physical game, the Sea Kings battled with all of their heart. With their home gym filled to its capacity, the Sea Kings surprised the Spartans for the first half of play. However, in the second half La Canada responded and advanced to the third-round with a 59-46 victory. Adam Freede was the leading scorer for the Sea Kings with 13 points. He grabbed a steal on the first play of the second half and made a lay-up to give CdM the lead. La Canada then wore down the Sea Kings with their height advantage and outside shooting. Senior guard, Reid Watanabe, was ejected from the game. The Sea Kings finished their season with a 14-14 record.
