The After Effects Of The Cold War

There were many after effects after the Cold War. Many Americans suffered. 400,000 soldiers died in battle, many more were injured. Surprisingly, no bombs fell on American cities. The American factories were untouched. It was known for a fact in 1946, the United States did have the biggest navy, and the best equipped Air Force in the world. The United States was the only country to have the Atomic Bomb. “No nation in history had ever won so great a victory and asked for so little in return. I twas also true that no country had ever emerged from a war so prosperous.” said president Harry S. Truman. In 1947, the United States produced half of the world’s goods, 57% of its steel, 43% of the electricity, and 62% of its oil. These percentages made a record for the wealth of one country.
