Hello and welcome to my pages. In these pages, you will get to meet my 12 year old son, and all of my animals. my name is Dorothy. I was born in Florida and raised here in washington state. Iam an animal lover, especially dogs. I was raised with a black lab. Her name was Chipper and she followed me everywhere I went as a child. She protected me when I needed it and she also got me in trouble a few times by swiping steaks off of people's bar b que's. I became very fond of collies when I was about 7, and I was literally glued to the set as Lassie came on and often brought home the neighbor's collie, so my parents figured I needed my own collie. So I got Lassie...(ofcourse!) for my 8th birthday. sadly, Lassie was killed by a car on christmas day 1969 as my friend and I were riding our shiney new bikes up the the local church to visit God on His birthday. I must have been in shock, as I saw it happen, but have never been able to recall it. I ran home to get my parents and as I was turning away from the scene, I actually saw my dog going up in a cloud, waving goodbye to me. I knew she was gone. No one had to tell me that. So, my Mom went out the next day and got me Princess. My Dad erected a fence and she was not allowed out of it. We bred princess to Prince and she had a total of 5 litters of pups. I also showed her, and still have all her ribbons she won today. Chipper died of old age in 1975. I didn't want any more dogs, it devestated me to lose them. Then one day in 1981 I went to the local animal shelter in Kent and came upon this adorable chocolate lab pup. He was so sweet, he put his paw through the pen he was in and held my hand. I didn't want to leave this pup. I went home and told my Mom about him. I awoke the next morning with an animal sleeping on my back, and a paw around me. It was him! My Mom had gone down and took one look at him and brough him home. He remembered me! I named him Rusty. I was on vacation in 1983 in California, visiting with my Dad, and Rusty was killed by a car speeding through our neighborhood. Well, I didn't want anymore dogs.

I had my son in 1991 and from the beginning, he wanted a golden retriever. I promised him once I bought a house with a fully fenced yard, I would get him one. I got my house 5 years ago and we got Yolfie, a purebred AKC registered goldy, in 2001. Her registered name is Yolfies Golden Magic. I taught her a command, where if she ever got out of our fenced yard, and I spoke this command, she would stop in her tracks and lie down on her stomach. Kids leave gates open, as kids will, but Yolfie knew I didn't want her out of that yard. She comes directly to the side door the few times she has gotten out. She knows I don't want her out of that yard and I have never had to use the command. She's my baby and somehow she ended up being my dog. I wanted to show her, but found out early on that she was born with cataracts and shoulder displasia. She will eventually have to have surgery on her eyes and shoulder. I taught her to play soccer when she was a pup...she would lay on the ball so I couldn't get it! But I also noticed she didn't seem to see the ball when she should have. So I took her to the vet and got the news of what she had. I didn't want to cause her anymore pain than she already has so I chose not to show her. She just turned 2 years old this past June 5th. She is just beautiful and weighs 100 pounds! She is a very happy dog and always has a huge smile on her face. She loves her bones and her babies....little stuffed animals. Every time she gets a new one, she will walk around me in a circle several times, saying thankyou, then she's off to play with it. She loves to play with the kids in the back yard and has herself a 3 foot mudhole she loves to play in. I will be glad when it dries up!

We also have Ms. Kitten. My son found her when he was 6 years old. She is a calico, and had no collar on her. So we put up fliers and I placed an ad, but ofcourse no one claimed her. I was leary of letting her inside, as we had Birdie Macguire, a grey cockatiel, and was worried Kitten would eat that bird. Then she showed up with a bullet wound to her left back leg! Someone had shot her. Thank God the bullet missed anythng major and came to rest in her leg bone, So I had to bring her in and nurse her back to health. She showed not an ounce of interest in our bird. They co-exsisted happily together. We lost Birdie Macguire on November 1st, 2002 to old age. So I got Hufflepuff, a very pretty orange and grey cockatiel. He is the neatest bird, he loves music and dances to it, he swings his head around in a circle and bobs his head up and down to any rock music with a good beat. He also immitates the dog's bark and people laughing so needless to say, he's quite a fuuny bird. He talks a blue streak. when I have a friend over and we are talking, he will join in the conversation, saying his own things and laughing when we do. He is just so funny! He is so friendly! He just loves people and will check out anyone new that comes over and chatter at them. He just turned 3 years old.

Then we got Timmy Turner. My son named him after a cartoon lol.He was a stray, and I can't say no to a stray animal, although Iam currently at my limit. I will find foster homes for other animals that have been dumped or lost. He is a funny cat. He loves to steal things from the dryer. He will wait for me to open it and grab the first thing he sees and off he goes with it! He also likes to swipe a piece of Yolfie's dog food and have his very own soccer match with it on the kitchen floor. Then i will see him take off with it in his mouth. I will be posting pictures of all my "kids" here so people can see what they all look like.

I am also an avid reader and an aspiring writer. I currently have 3 books in the works. 2 of them are children's books and the other is a mystery type book. I have never got to meet an author, except I did meet GGreg Olsen, who wrote about the tylenol poisonings here in auburn. I would love to meet more authors, and would love to have Stephen King over for dinner on halloween night! I dont read very many of his books anymore, but I love the way his mind works and his sense of humor. Iam working on having my children's books published. I also write poetry and I have had a couple of them published. I don't sit down and just write it, it just pops into my head and I grab a pen and write it down. I work and am currently trying to get into nursing school. I love to work with people and believe we are all here to help eachother out. My interest lies in working with hospice, although I know I couldn't work with dying kids. Our kids are gifts from God and its too painful to see a child suffer. I had started nursing school when my son was born, and worked with geriatrics for years, but I wanted to be home to raise my son until he is old enough for me to go back and finish. I have also had courses in veterinary medicine, but I can't stand to hear an animal yip or cry and couldn't get over that part of it. I'm also somewhat of an artist, but have not done anything with that. I collect wind chimes and love to grow pumpkins in my garden, amoung other things. I have about 20 pumpkin plants growing right now, they are fun and easy to grow. This year, I'm trying to grow an oversized one to maybe take to the fair, if it gets big enough. We'll see!

My son was born February 15th, 1991. His Dad is a police officer, but it turned out that I wasn't the only one in his life, so it's just me and my son. We are buddies, he is my heart beat. I am very proud of him for all he has accomplished. He is in karate right now and is currently and orange belt. He will continue until he reaches black belt. Then he can decide if he wants to go any further with it. He wants to go to college to be a paramedic. Iam so proud of him! He is about to graduate the 6th grade and every year I take him to the Seattle Center to do whatever he wants, ride the rides, and they have a neat video game place we found last year. He is an expert at a game called Pump, also known as Dance dance revolution, and many other games. He mostly plays karate-based video games. I never knew there was so many of them out there! He has a gift where he can learn and beat a game in no time. he's just amazing! Iam so lucky to have him in my life, and lucky he is healthy. he's such a sweet, thoughtful boy!
