•The north shore beaches are wild and
windswept and of volcanic black sands. In the summer months between November and April this is an excellent spot for beach surfing
•The only white sand beaches on Tahiti
extend along the dry south west coast. Temae beach on the east coast of Moorea is one of the few public beaches and consequently a popular
picnic spot. Most of the coastline around the island is private although most resorts allow
outsiders access to the
beach. The north west corner of Moorea, with its two offshore motu, is the most commercial center on
Moorea. Here the beach has fine white sand, the lagoon good for swimming and busy with water activities - kayaking, water-skiing
and even kite boarding - and snorkeling is good too. Two tiny offshore islands add to its
attraction.
