Who We Are

Troop 2 was chartered in the Early 1980's and meets on Mondays at the Elks Lodge in Petaluma. We are currently comprised of 40 youth from 11-17 years of age.

We operate according to tradition of a boy run troop whereby the boys are organized under the patrol system, each having a youth Patrol Leader and the overall troop operating under a youth Senior Patrol Leader. Together the Patrol Leaders plan, organize and conduct each weekly meeting and monthly outing. Adult leadership is always on hand to lend advice, to assure safety and adherence to scout principles - but it is the youth who run Troop 2.

The boys choose their own trips - car camping, backpacking, biking, rockclimbing, Water water river rafting, and much, much more.

Traditionally, we have two Large trips per year, such as Yosemite in the winter and a Boy Scout Camp experience in the summer. Then we add additional trips throughout the year such as Whitewater river rafting or rock climbing. We like variety but the constants are adventure, campfires, and working as a team.

Our Primary fund raiser is from Christmas tree sales. Our Scouts, Set up and run a complete tree lot business. They sell and deliver christmas trees all over Petaluma. Not only has this been a good funds raiser, it also helps our boys learn valuable business skills they will use in the future.

The adults of Troop 2 assure the boys have an opportunity to have fun in a troop setting and time in this busy world to just be boys, but as importantly to grow responsibly from boys to young men. Along the way they will learn about service to the troop, council, and community. They will learn what it takes to plan and organize. They will have exposure to over 120 merit badges and the opportunity to grow from the ranks from Scout and Tenderfoot all the way to Eagle if they are willing (we have averaged 4 Eagle Scouts per year!). We ensure that they enjoy the trip along the way.
