Lesson 1

The Power to Change your life!

I would like to talk to you about power! Everyone wants more of it. We feel frustrated because we don’t feel that we have enough. Yet most of us don’t have the power to change one little thing about ourselves. Modern society makes us feel insignificant. Yet at the same time it tries to tell us that we can validate ourselves through material acquisition, and self-improvement. We buy all the right products and read all the right books, yet in the end nothing changes. Why is it, that we try and try to improve and yet things stay the same? Very few of people have made significant, lasting changes in themselves or their surroundings. Unfortunately of those who have changed almost none of those changes were for the better. It seems that the more time goes on the fewer positive changes are happening, in the natural world, in the spiritual world, or in individuals. Yet I know that positive, lasting change is possible! We have all known, or at least heard of, a few people who have improved themselves, their financial situation, their surroundings, or even society as a whole.

Why most people don’t change:

 1)   Most people don’t make changes because they do not believe that they can. (No wonder considering how rare positive change is?)

You do have the power to change yourself. No one else has the power to change you. You hold that power uniquely. Others can influence you, if you let them. Circumstances can have only the effects that you allow. Only you are responsible for you. Changing yourself is difficult, but quite possible if you know how. By changing yourself you can change your surroundings, and circumstances. You cannot change others directly, but you can learn to influence them by your attitude and general disposition.

Your own attitude can effect and influence others if they allow it, however no one can change another individual against their will. You can however influence those who don’t know how to resist your enthusiasm, or will. By far the best way to influence living beings is by example and suggestion. Circumstances are influenced by Karma and you can learn to build better Karma, thus bringing more fortune your way. Circumstances are also greatly formed by your actions and inactions. Just by changing yourself you can be a powerful influence on your circumstances. By becoming more effective as an individual, and strengthening yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and also by having faith in yourself and the divine, you can be more than a match for any problem that crosses your path. Expecting good things brings good things, provided you put in the work that is necessary to accomplish your goals. It does no good to expect results and not do the work. Conversely it does little good to do the work and not expect good results. Confidence is key, and confidence is just another word for faith.

  2)   Many others don’t change because it frightens them. They are afraid that the effort to change, or the changes themselves, will cause problems that they will not be able to deal with. Change can lead us into the unknown and the unexpected. The unknown is always frightening.

The unknown is terrifying for many people. We get so used to doing things the same way, that we even get attached to our patterns of failure and mediocrity. We actually reach a point where we become afraid of change. Instead of instigating change we simply ride the storm out in whatever situation we are in.

People often develop feelings of powerlessness, because of frustration with the status quo on one hand and fear of the unknown on the other. Then one must make a decision on what things they can and want to change. In order to make a wise decision, you must first overcome your fears, and reach a deeper understanding of your frustration. Only then can you make an unbiased decision on what is best for you. As long as you live your life tightrope walking between fear on one side and frustration on the other you cannot move freely or do the things that you obviously need to do to make your life better.

Fear can be understood best as an entity. It is a separate being, which lives in your own mind. It feeds on your thoughts and in turn regurgitates those thoughts as something other than, and worse than the initial concerns you may have had. Where does the entity come from? You make it! You actually create it with the power of your mind. You have created your own worst enemy, and now you must defeat it. It takes knowledge and power to do this, but the ability can be learned, and the power is available.

Fear can be palpable. You actually wrestle with it in the dark, in dreams and in the recesses of your subconscious. You may wrestle with fear when you have to speak in public, apply for a job, face someone you aren’t comfortable with, or do something new for the first time.

Sometimes Fear seems to take form and whip you quicker than any bully on the playground. As a matter of fact fear is the tool of all playground bullies. Without fear a bully is powerless.

In adult life Bullies are anything that keeps you from your goal, or keeps you from being happy by inducing fear. Thus there are many bullies in life. Humans often intimidate each other, either knowingly or unknowingly. Circumstances seem bullying, and often feel inescapable. Worst of all are the inner bullies. Inner bullies are those voices you have allowed yourself to remember whenever you feel self-doubt. The record of every time you ever felt that you failed or did less than your best, resides in your head as a voice. Often Parents, teachers, friends, and grade-school classmates were the first to point out your shortcomings and their condemning voices are now a part of your psychological make up. It is silly to think of these people, many of whom are insignificant to us now, still torture us for things we have done when we were so much younger. We were a much different person then, than we are now, yet we all still feel like that same kid who lost his/her homework in third grade, left our math book in the rain, or perhaps didn’t dress like the other children. There are voices in your memory, telling you that you are somehow inadequate. What could you accomplish if you could silence these voices and think things out in a fresh way, based not on the past, but upon the eternal now. Who would you become if you realized that you are fresh to change every single day. You can become whatever you wish at any given moment as an act of your will. You are not stuck in your old pattern of thinking and being. Now realize that you remove the power from these bullies by taking out the fear factor. Those of courage can overcome all the bullies, and you can develop that kind of courage.

3)  Others don’t make changes because it is too much effort. These folks are not as unhappy with things the way they are as they would be if they had too work hard changing them. Often these are the people who try to change, and give up when the going gets tough! The phrase “easier said than done,” comes to mind.

Hard work has a way of not sounding too appealing! Sure you will have to work hard to make a change, but chances are you are working hard now! So much busy work! Busy work is what the teachers used to give you in school, when they wanted to go to the teachers lounge to smoke, and drink coffee. Remember those assignments of 25 sentences that you had to copy verbatim and add punctuation. Were you really helped by these kinds of exercises, or were they more for the teacher’s advantage. Wouldn’t you have learned more writing your own sentences, and doing less copy work? Sure it would have been better, but the teacher would have had to pay attention when she graded that.

Life is always waiting to provide more busy work for those whom are likely to get in trouble if left idle. Habits die hard. Are you still giving yourself busy work, or are you operating at your true creative potential. There are many ways to do things. If you make your mind work for you and not against you, you will have plenty of time to be creative. You will actually save work by making the right changes in your life. The work that you do will be more rewarding and your thoughts will finally be your own, to do with as you will.

4) Still others can’t decide what they want. They don’t know what to do, or how to do it. They know that they could be happier but they just aren’t sure what they really want to accomplish. When it comes right down to it, they realize that they lack the wisdom to make the choices required for change.

Decisions are hard sometimes. You may need to get guidance, divine and/or human. You may need to do research, but decisions have to be made if you want to live life to its fullest. Yes you can change your life for the better, if you choose carefully and wisely. Decisions should not be taken lightly or made on a whim, but if you don’t make a choice, there will be circumstantial factors that will make the choice for you. Isn’t it better to have a choice in your life, than just allow things to happen to you? Be consciously aware of your choices. Make wise decisions based on what you want. Don’t just let life happen to you. Taking conscious action today may save you a lot of heartache down the road. Pray for guidance, seek advice, do research and then make an intelligent choice not based on fear or apathy. You will be happier for it.

The bottom line is that if you don’t care enough about your own life to try to make the right decisions to improve it, no one else is going to take the time to make sure that you are taken care of. You are no longer a child and you have to make your own decisions, then you have to accept responsibility for decisions.

I once heard a college professor say that the main reason students flunked out of college, was that they were used to being nagged to do their homework. Teachers in grade school, and to a lesser extent high school take an active interest in their students work and bring lack of work, and poor marks to the student’s and sometimes their parent’s attention right away. College students on the other hand, turn in their assignments or not. No one says, “Why didn’t you do your homework?” Students just fail if they don’t do it. Often a student doesn’t even realize that his marks are poor until it is too late, because no one is nagging him.

All adult life is just like that. No one makes you do anything. You just reap the consequences if you are irresponsible, or make poor choices. You make your own choices and then have to live with them. Often you are still living with choices you made years ago.

Making high quality decisions now, can save you much grief in the future. Once you realize that only you can change your life, and that you are responsible for yourself, you are free to make the best choices in life. Finally you can be free of apathy, fear and other paralyzing emotions that wreck people’s lives. You can learn to be a friend to the universe and reap the benefits of having the universe love you back. Don’t let life pass you by. Go for it!

5)  Some are too weak, too busy or too apathetic to make changes. Usually these folks are more interested in just keeping things going the way they are. It is hard to improve anything when it’s all you can do just to keep functioning. (You can’t fix your car while you are driving it down the road at eighty miles an hour.)

Another point about going eighty miles an hour down the road non-stop is that you might run out of gas. Burn out happens to those who least expect it. Take time to refresh and get a different perspective. Check the roadmap. Think about where you are going. Often when we are in a hurry we waist time going in the wrong direction, or have traffic accidents. Sometimes we just have to slow down and take stock.

Those who live life frantic to achieve their goals have their rewards. There is a lot to be said for well-placed ambition, however if you get too frantic, you are headed for disaster. It is good to pace yourself and take a little time to smell the flowers once in a while. Also the more you do the more you need to plan carefully. Avoid frantic and repetitive actions; try to find a better way. Often attitude can make all the difference between calm success and a frantic nightmare of jumbled actions that could have been done much more efficiently and with less effort. Take the time to do a little inventory may be just what you need. Perhaps you are spinning your wheels a bit.

The skills you need to take stock of your life are right at your fingertips. We can help you order your life in a new and creative way, showing you how to remove the drama, and pain so that you have more time for productive and benevolent pursuits.

6) Sometimes other people talk them out of changing with their negative attitudes. Whenever a great idea is discussed there is always someone there to point out how impossible it is.

Of course you may face the naysayers: Oh how easy it is for them to criticize those who want to do something differently than those who have gone before. How easy it is for them to sit back and laugh at others who are trying, while resting on their laurels.

One of the hardest things to do when trying to change is to ignore the naysayer. There will be plenty of them in life. One must rise above the crowd in order to reach one’s potential. Ask yourself when someone criticizes you for your goals, what are their goals and how have they accomplished them. If someone is an expert in your field and has many accomplishments, perhaps you should hear them out. Perhaps they will have suggestions and constructive criticism, but don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Keep trying, and keep on trying. Never stop until you have reached your goals. Don’t let the voices of those who don’t believe, stop you. Go for it. Learning to ignore negativity is a learned skill. It takes knowledge and practice. We will learn more about this in the following courses.

Most importantly you can become victorious over your inner bullies who are the ultimate naysayers. More than anyone your inner bullies know your weak points. They will be so shocked when your weak points aren’t there to pick anymore. Once you remove the pain from your past and realize that the old you doesn’t exist anymore and that you are a new creature moment by moment, they can’t hold you down anymore. This will work on human naysayers too.

  7)  Occasionally people have already carefully considered the cost of change and decided it is too great. They literally don’t feel that they can afford cost of changes, whether that cost is time, money, public opinion, or wear and tear on the body, mind and spirit. Everything has a price.

Some changes simply aren’t worth the effort, however eventually we all find something that is. Not every possible change is good. Not every part of your life needs changing; however there are things that you can learn that will teach you to be more effective in life. We are talking about the ability to improve. What you decide to improve is your choice. We are simply offering life-changing skills. How you use them is up to you. Perhaps you are satisfied with your circumstances, however our skills can make your current life run much smoother.

We are offering a formula to set you free to make the choices you feel are most beneficial. By removing the fear, guilt, or any other emotional baggage that prevents people from attaining success at their endeavors, we can show you how to reduce the stress and nagging doubts of life. We want you to learn to feel the power of faith in your life. Experience the absence of worry, dread and uncontrollable negative thoughts. You can use these skills and make major changes for the better, even if you don’t want to change everything.

In any case you can use your new skills in whatever way you see fit. We offer peace of mind, and a more effective life process in our courses. Mostly we offer you the freedom to choose what you really want in life, and show you a way to generate the strength to make it happen.

8) The main reason people don’t change is that the source of life changing power is totally unknown to them!

You will notice that the bottom line is that there is a source of power that we can tap into. This is not just another self-help book, or even just another religion. Religions are just brand names of the same product. There is something there beneath the surface of all of them; Truth. Unfortunately there is a lot of other stuff in religion too. We are talking about going to the source of truth, and drawing strength wisdom, love and power that is real. This is not something that you can do on the outside to make things look better. What we are talking about is deep down real inner change. Change your life! Change your attitude! Change your circumstances! Change your whole sense of self and being for the better.

Our courses draw on the wisdom of many sacred texts, coupled with Jungian Psychology and our own personal discoveries and revelations. As mystics we are in tune with many forces that most people are unaware of. We will not only share our revelations, but also help you gain your own understanding of spirituality and help you establish your own contact with the divine. The work is not easy, but it is very enjoyable and rewarding. We seek to help you have a richer and more rewarding life experience. One in which you can quiet your negative inner and outer voices, find stillness, and learn to listen to the Divine. The omniscient omnipresent force of God wants to work in your life. All that is, speaks to you constantly already, but you must learn to listen. This is a complex process, but one that anyone can master, with time, motivation and the proper effort.

Freedom from Fear Lesson 2.

Inner Change

When most people try to change, they do it with their persona and ego. It is an outward change! Inward Change is what is necessary. Change must come about from the inside out, not the outside in, if it is going to work!

Imagine that you find an old mason jar. It is covered with dust, and full of something that has gone bad! If you wish to keep the jar, you must first open the jar and remove the vile contents. Then you rinse it out with water, apply detergent and more water. Then you do a little scrubbing. Dusting the outside won’t clean the inside. Chances are however, while you are cleaning the inside, the outside will get pretty clean; a couple of extra wipes with a wet sponge are all you need to clean the outside. Once the jar is clean, you can fill it with what you like. If you don’t open and clean the inside, the jar is useless, because you can’t put anything new in it and what is in there is not good.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but within they are full of extortion (prey, spoil, plunder) and grasping self-indulgence.
You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and of the plate, so that the outside may be clean also. (Matt. 23:25-26 Amplified Bible)

Jesus said the Pharisees washed the outside of the cup and let the inside be dirty. This is why they were hypocrites, the harder they tried to be holy, the more corrupt they got, because they were working on the outside.

This lesson covers the entire chapter of Matt 23 as found in the Amplified Bible with my commentary.

This has always been one of my favorite bible verses. At first I just enjoyed the fact that Jesus could tell it like it is. He really told off those Pharisees and let them know where they really stood. I saw it as a renunciation of the established order of things, and it is. It is also much more than that. Jesus speaks to the most humble of us in this passage also. Jesus is speaking of the works of the ego mind. The fire of his righteous anger makes his speech quite plain and he is actually being very forthcoming with deep inner truths that apply to all of us, not just the wicked Pharisees.

This passage is Christian, but it echoes the core of eastern spiritual teachings. Christianity and other faiths that are practiced by true mystics agree, because mystics listen to the same source of information. Most true Mystics both eastern and western talk to God. No matter what country they are in they hear the same voice.

Really I see our time in history as the age of the Pharisee. Sure we think of the religious ones first, the legalistic religious folks, who seek to bind us in a world of laws while ignoring the spirit, but also we can think of the materialistic folks who tell us that unless we have the right kind of clothes, houses, and cars we are somehow subhuman. We also see big corporations and cities devouring the houses of poor widows like so much firewood. The harshness and lack of caring in the modern world is overwhelming. Even those of us who try to seek God in spirit and in truth, get caught up in these kinds of things, because this is the way we have been taught to think. We are being trained by various groups of Pharisees constantly. We must seek above all to leave the ideology of the Pharisee ego behind and move on into Spirit.

What is the ideology of the Pharisee? It is the obsession of the persona and ego part of the mind with the material world, whether it is obsessing over lust for possessions, or the virtues of self-denial, it is still materialism. Materialism is the belief that things can be obtained, accomplished and perfected in the material realm without use of your true spiritual nature, or divine guidance. It can include reliance on the law, reliance on qualities of the ego self such as strength or intelligence, or reliance on material goods.

1THEN JESUS said to the multitudes and to His disciples,
2The scribes and Pharisees sit on Moses' seat [of authority].

Jesus is not just saying that these people are in charge; he is saying that these kinds of people are always taking charge. Even if they didn’t have authority they would soon take it because that is the kind of people they are. These are the greedy graspers of power and wealth. They rob from all with a clear conscience. Their values are distorted, and yet they have power over us. They try to tell us what we should be.
3So observe and practice all they tell you; but do not do what they do, for they preach, but do not practice.
4They tie up heavy loads, hard to bear, and place them on men's shoulders, but they themselves will not lift a finger to help bear them.

Such are the standards of the world, religious and secular. Those who seek to make you have less so that it appears they have more, those who seek to bind you with laws and rules while doing what they please. They never lend a helping hand to the poor, or stumbling. But instead point a finger and say, “I am better than others!” This is obvious in some people and less obvious in others, yet it is the nature of many people. Repressing this instinct only makes it worse. This drive must be dealt with and eliminated by the spirit of love, coming from the inside.
5They do all their works to be seen of men; for they make wide their phylacteries small cases enclosing certain Scripture passages, worn during prayer on the left arm and forehead) and make long their fringes [worn by all male Israelites, according to the command].

Outward displays of compassion and holiness, which comes from the ego and not the heart, do not cleanse the wickedness. They just build up more resentment and hatred for those whom they see as beneath them.
6And they take pleasure in and [thus] love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues,
7And to be greeted with honor in the marketplaces and to have people call them rabbi.
8But you are not to be called rabbi (teacher), for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers.
9And do not call anyone [in the church] on earth father, for you have one Father, Who is in heaven.
10And you must not be called masters (leaders), for you have one Master (Leader), the Christ.
11He who is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Some people just love attention. They like to have people perceive them as special. They wish for fancy titles and admiration of others, yet when work is to be done they are nowhere to be found. Truly great leaders are those who seek to be of service, not those who seek recognition.

There are many whom would have you believe that they are enlightened, or special, or gifted and that they are doing something you can’t do. They seek to make you dependant on their supposed gifts and abilities. If they truly have gifts, then they can help you to attain the same gifts. Thus the student is as great as the teacher. There are not two different classes of people. The teacher also learns from his students, and eventually the student may become greater than the teacher. We learn from each other. Those who know how to do things offer their services without trying to set up a hierarchy. All are the same in God’s eyes. Sure some people have specialized knowledge in one area or another. But if they have that knowledge then they can certainly teach it. Therefore there is nothing you don’t know, that you cannot learn if you have the desire to learn it and the determination to invest the time and effort. It is true that some have more natural ability in one area or another, but each person’s potential giftings are sufficient for their needs.

If your sink is clogged you may call a plumber. You ask him for services, you pay him and thank him. You don’t worship him or call him great master of sink clogs, you are just thankful that your plumbing works. If he tells you to stop putting bacon grease down your sink then he has taught you. Heed his teachings and you will have no more sink troubles. Ignore his teachings and you will need his services again soon. A good plumber will tell you what to do to keep from needing him, only a charlatan will not tell you so that you will need him again soon. The good plumber will come back if you don’t listen to him and get grease in your drain again. He will carefully explain again why you shouldn’t pour the bacon grease down the sink. He really hopes that you will listen, but he will come back as many times as necessary. A minister is no more than a plumber of the spirit. He will get your spiritual waters flowing; he will pluck out the clogs. He will advise you how to keep from getting more clogs. If he is a really good minister, he will teach you how to remove your own clogs. Still he is of no more ranking than the plumber or the baker or anyone else who renders you service. His subject matter may be more complex, in some cases, but still he is there to serve you and meet your needs.
12Whoever exalts himself [with haughtiness and empty pride] shall be humbled (brought low), and whoever humbles himself [whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly] shall be raised to honor.

A good example of this is Mother Theresa. Many people would have trouble listing the last 5 popes, but everyone knows who Mother Theresa was. She served people and helped people; she didn’t go around demanding respect, or seeking fame. She was just doing her job. Millions of unknown ministers are doing the same thing all over the world. They may not have any credentials. They may not even think of themselves as ministers, but if they are following the spirit, and living a life devoted to the gentle service of others, then they are just as worthy of our love, respect and admiration as the highest officer of any Religious organization. God honors the humble calling of those who seek and speak truth.

The greatest of us is no more than a humble servant of God and Man. The least of us is no more than a recipient of this service. He in turn will serve others when he is able.

13But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces; for you neither enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who are about to go in to do so.

This is the point. Hypocrisy will never get you there. What is hypocrisy? It is the act of trying to or pretending to do or be something, outwardly. Try won’t get it. Pretend won’t do the job. All you have to do is be, in spirit and in truth. Not outward change, but inward change. Unfortunately we all try to be things other than what we are. There is nothing wrong with trying to change, but when we try to change outwardly we are approaching change wrong way.

The ego persona is created in early childhood to please others and make the child worthy of love. The child forms this ego himself as a way to seek approval, and self worth. Children receive the message early on that in order to be accepted they have to become something other than what they really are. This is the universal mistake of parenting. No one has yet figured out a way to raise children without it, apparently.

As we get older we see things in other people that we like, we find good qualities that we want to portray, and we try to become those things! It sounds good right? The only problem is that if we for instance say to ourselves. “I will be strong. I am strong!” Then we hear a voice in the back of our heads saying; “no you aren’t!” This is the shadow. It is everything we don’t like and don’t want in our personalities. Every time we put up something good in our persona façade, it’s opposite finds a home in our shadow. Why, because our mind works on the concept of opposites and doubt. When ever we here someone say “I am smart” do we not immediately think, “are you?” It is the natural order of the mind to doubt and question that is why we develop shadow.

The easterners say that the ego is but an illusion, it is not real. This may well be so, but the shadow will certainly come back and bite you in the behind… illusion or not. Most of us have the scars to prove it. How many times have you lost confidence, or done something out of character at exactly the wrong time and really made a mess of things because of it. This is the shadow. The shadow is what keeps the efforts of our persona and ego from succeeding. It does that for a reason. Because the efforts of the persona, although at times well intended, are not pure and sincere.

The persona part of the ego naturally shuts the gates of heaven, because it calls attention to the natural, material plane. It believes that a person is what he says he is, and the shadow knows better because it is everything the person says he isn’t. The truth is a person is not the ego or persona, nor is it the shadow. The person is the spirit and runs a lot deeper than these surface manifestations. The person is both strong and weak, gentle and bold, etc. it is all these things. The spirit is exactly what is called for in the situation. The spirit of man is real; the rest is just mental exercise. By letting the ego, which is the basis for all hypocrisy, run your life, you are shutting the kingdom of heaven to yourself, and everybody who listens to you.

The kingdom of heaven is now. Not a thing that just happens to the dead. We are right now citizens of heaven if we choose to use our spirits and live as spirit. We must walk after the spirit and not the flesh. Then we are free to be citizens of the kingdom.
14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you swallow up widows' houses and for a pretense to cover it up make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation and the heavier sentence.
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you travel over sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes one [a proselyte], you make him doubly as much a child of hell (Gehenna) as you are.

This is the nature of the beast called the ego. The ego lacks love, even if it tries to be loving. It is constantly justifying itself, and falsely guiding others to do things the same way. As long as we are in ego we are wrong, and doing things the wrong way, no matter how benevolent the façade may be. No matter how convinced we are that of the concept that the ego is us. The point is that we are shackled by the preconceived concept of self, and shackle others to similar concepts of who they are until we decide to break free from all concepts of self and seek God in spirit and in truth.

It is important to note that it says that the Pharisee is already a child of Gehenna. Gehenna is a metaphor based on the place where the Jews burned their Garbage. Their was fire and Garbage there all the time. It sounds a bit like the old shadow. The shadow is the real hell on earth. It is made of the things you loathe, despise, and fear. It is doubt incarnate, because that is where you keep your doubts about everything. It is also fear, dread, and all the things you don’t like about yourself. You actually wish you could incinerate the shadow, but although the fire burns hot in Gehenna, the shadow never burns up, it just gets stronger in the chaos and you are the one who feels the heat. The Shadow is where you keep all the personality characteristics that you personally find distasteful. These are not all bad things; just things that you feel are bad. Some people actually keep a lot of gentleness there. These are repressed emotions, repressed fears, repressed impulses, and self doubts. There are questions there that you really don’t want answers too, and thoughts you don’t dare think. Truly the shadow is your own private hell and just as with the kingdom of heaven, you don’t necessarily have to die, to go there.
16Woe to you, blind guides, who say, If anyone swears by the sanctuary of the temple, it is nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the] sanctuary, he is a debtor [bound by his oath].
17You blind fools! For which is greater: the gold, or the sanctuary of the temple that has made the gold sacred)
18You say too, Whoever swears by the altar is not duty bound; but whoever swears by the offering on the altar, his oath is binding.
19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar which makes the gift sacred?

Again we see the altar and sanctuary, which represents spirit weighed against the gold, which represents material. The ego believes that the material plane, the outside of the cup, will lead to changes in the inside of the cup, which is the spiritual. This is not true. The spiritual changes the material. The material cannot change the spiritual. The altar (spirit) makes the gift (material) sacred. The gold doesn’t make the altar sacred. Many people loose sight of this fact. There is no physical substance on earth, which is of itself sacred. There is no bodily manifestation that is holy without the indwelling spirit, which is the core of all human sanctification. The body is the temple of the spirit. The spirit should not be the prisoner of the body.

20So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21And he who swears by the  sanctuary of the temple swears by it and by Him Who dwells in it. [I Kings 8:13; Ps. 26:8.]
22And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by Him Who sits upon it.

Jesus is clarifying that the material and even the astral are but possessions of the spiritual. A very wise man once said. Possess your possessions; don’t let your possessions possess you. Your outward attributes and inner conflicts are just that YOURS. You must put all this stuff in subjection to spirit, and not think that these things are you. Even your body is just a corruptible possession that will one day cease, but you will live on. You will one day drop your body as easily as you dropped off yesterday’s clothes before you went to bed last night. And you will still be. Your moods and feelings come and go, your thoughts come and go. Your persona changes with the wind, but your spirit is eternal, and that is what you should perceive and live your life through. Not the body for it is corruptible. Not your ego self, for it is a self created illusion. You are spirit. That is the real you. You are both astral, physical and spiritual, but the physical and even the astral will pass away, only the spirit is eternal.
23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you give a tenth of your mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected and omitted the weightier (more important) matters of the Law--right and justice and mercy and fidelity. These you ought [particularly] to have done, without neglecting the others.
24You blind guides, filtering out a gnat and gulping down a camel.

I have seen people be so nit-picky about fleshly sins that they don’t allow themselves to play video games, watch TV, or go to movies. They carefully give a 10th of all they have to the church. Many of these people are quite sincere and seek very hard to be good people. Yet sometimes they and gossip and judge others harshly. They have trouble loving others as they should, and they have little or no spiritual life. This is just the nature of outward change. We could call it Ego adjustment. They don’t let God change them. They just try to change themselves. There is more to holiness than the abstaining from certain things. Holiness comes from the heart and spirit. It comes from obedience not sacrifice. Obeying the spirit from moment to moment is better than adherence to the law, because there is freedom in the spirit. The law is purely outward and carnal. The spirit is the inward truth, and the gentle direction of God himself. To be carnally minded is death, to be spiritually minded is God. The spirit knows nothing of justice, mercy and fidelity. These things are spirit.

Our legalistic friends often argue that revelation knowledge is dangerous, and that only scripture is sure. I would say that while it is quite true that there is a danger of being misled especially for beginners, the mystic life is so much more rewarding and free. Eventually the mystic develops discernment. “My sheep will know my voice.” The scriptures clearly say that we should depend not only on scripture, but also upon revelation, and communication with God. Dry legalism is not enough to fulfill our destiny as servants of God and man. We need the individual instruction of God, in our daily lives to protect and teach us what we should do. The scriptures and all holy texts are full of divine revelations, and without God speaking with people there would be no sacred texts to be found anywhere in the world.

God speaks to us all. He is no respecter of one person over the other. He is open to all who seek him, and expects all of us to listen and hear his voice. Be still, God is speaking to you right now.

(Verses 25 &26 are addressed above.
27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you are like tombs that have been whitewashed, which look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of dead men's bones and everything impure.
28Just so, you also outwardly seem to people to be just and upright but inside you are full of pretense and lawlessness and iniquity.

Jesus was not always soft spoken. He could be tough and angry; he could be whatever was required at the time. This perhaps was part of what he taught us. He could be gentle, but he could also firmly let people know where they really stood. Very few Christian ministers preach on Matt. 23. It is a scary chapter. One might step on toes, besides it preaches against what many churches are preaching and teaching. They really don’t know any better, and they don’t understand this passage of scripture.

It is easy to see the Pharisee in others, but hard to see it in yourself. Aren’t we all a little like this though? Putting our best foot forward, trying appear to be a better person than we know we really are. We carefully conceal our flaws and faults. Who doesn’t do this? See the ego and the shadow in this? The pretty white seplicar is the façade one puts on for all to see. We look in the mirror and we see the whitewash and feel OK about our selves. We tell ourselves that we are good, but there is that nagging feeling that there is something quite different on the inside. We fear that we are really that awful thing the seplicar hides. WE fear that we are the death and rot concealed behind the whitewashed walls. The good news is that you are neither the white washed seplicer of the persona façade, nor the dreadful monsters you have unwittingly created behind the façade (the shadow). Your true essence is the spirit of the divine that dwells in you.
29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,
30Saying, if we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have aided them in shedding the blood of the prophets.
31Thus you are testifying against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
32Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' sins to the brim [so that nothing may be wanting to a full measure].

We are no better than our teachers. We must choose the teacher that sent the prophets. (The spirit of the divine) not the teachers who murdered the prophets. (The ego and its followers.) The spirit discerns and builds upon the true nature of things, building that which is incorruptible, while the ego tears down the work of various prophets. We judge prophets by the spirit of truth that is in their message. Not the country they came from or the religion that has sprang from that prophet’s teachings.

There is a cycle of these things. First the prophet arises and speaks the word of God. Then the people react. Sometimes those in power, kill the prophet. Other times he just eventually dies. Then the various theologians build a doctrine around the message of the prophet, further explaining what he said. Some of this is good and necessary, and some of it will be in error. Then legalists will rise up and make a string of rules around what the prophets and theologians said. They will instruct the people in right behavior concerning this teaching. Some people haven’t learned to let their spirit rule their behavior, therefore legalists, rather than teach others to follow the spirit, find it easier to regulate the actions of their students. This doesn’t lead to enlightenment, but rather into bondage. There is freedom in true spirituality. It isn’t bondage to the rules. It doesn’t break the rules; it just creates right motivation for following them, and the wisdom to discern whether a rule is applicable to a given situation or if it is irrelevant to that situation.

33You serpents! You spawn of vipers! How can you escape the penalty to be suffered in hell (Gehenna)?
34Because of this, take notice: I am sending you prophets and wise men (interpreters and teachers) and scribes (men learned in the Mosaic Law and the Prophets); some of them you will kill, even crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues and pursue and persecute from town to town,
35So that upon your heads may come all the blood of the righteous ( those who correspond to the divine standard of right) shed on earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar [of burnt offering].
36Truly I declare to you, all these [evil, calamitous times] will come upon this generation. [II Chron. 36:15, 16.]
37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, murdering the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a mother fowl gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!

Verses 34-36 sound pretty harsh, but then we see verse 37 where Jesus says, that he wanted to protect these people as a mother hen protects her chicks under her wings, yet they refuse. We gather from this that the Pharisees knew full well what they were doing, and this is the actual deciding point. Up to now, you went about, perhaps acting in the best way you knew how. You did what you saw others doing! You didn’t know how to seek God in spirit and in truth, but you tried to live a good life. Now you know there is more, not just because of my words, or even Jesus words in the bible, but because deep in your heart the spirit cries out to you. Yes!!! I am here! God speaks to your heart. There is so much more to life. Let God gather you under his pinions, draw strength and protection from him. Let him love and cuddle you as a mother cuddles her babies. That is who God is. You will learn in these courses how to let God cuddle you, how to love all that exists, with a true heart. You will learn to hear the still small voice, and know that it is God. God is both huge and personal. The divine speaks to the individual, and orders the universe at the same time.

38Behold, your house is forsaken and desolate (abandoned and left destitute of God's help).
39For I declare to you, you will not see Me again until you say, Blessed (magnified in worship, adored, and exalted) is He Who comes in the name of the Lord!

As you can see there is great reward to those who listen, and consequences of not listening. We have everything to gain by growing spiritually, and certainly nothing to loose.

God can’t help us unless we yield to his divine will, which the easterners call Dharma. WE must allow God to work in us and through us. We must not turn our back on God and those who teach in spirit and truth. God allows for our honest mistakes and for our lack of knowledge and understanding, but willful avoidance of truth will get you into trouble. Denial doesn’t help a thing. Once you know and still turn away it starts to become more serious.

Without this understanding we are at the mercy of our Persona and shadow. The shadow can devour a person. Sometimes the shadow will eat away at the being until it is totally taken over by shadow. The ego façade falls down, the spirit hasn’t been given control of the being, and has been repressed, and can’t gain control of the being. The shadow just takes over. When this happens it is very hard to cure. It becomes a matter for psychiatrists, exorcists, and occasionally law enforcement. This is not the will of God. It is the person’s will because they chose not to deal with their inner conflict in a spiritual way. They lived a carnal life, which may have been either one of excess or of abstaining, but not one of spirit. They didn’t listen to the right voice and now they are in deep trouble.

We must override the carnal mind and allow our spirit to rule our being. We must dismantle the façade, and dispel the shadow. We must allow the leading of the spirit, the true and rightful self to reign unfettered by our preconceived ideas. This is the real key to change. As you read the chapters that follow you will learn freedom from fear. This comes from spiritual understanding of the cosmos, not from just bucking up, and learning to take things on the chin. It doesn’t come from being outwardly brave; it comes from
faith and confidence in God’s ability to work in your life. You can’t just put this on like an outward garment, because you have been told, it has to work its way down into your heart and spirit. You can’t just believe in your mind you have to know in your spirit. Once you know the truth in your spirit, there is no reason to fear. Any fear that may arise and try to present itself to you will be put down as totally ridiculous and impossible, not just repressed because you are adding it to your shadow.

Freedom From Fear Lessons 3

Open door policy

A meditative poem by Kim

I sleep with my doors open.

The world is a safe place

And if it isn’t,

I am strong…

Someone asked

“Aren’t you afraid?”

No, I replied

“I am strong and fearless.”

“I am a lion

In a world of mice.”

Of whom should I be afraid?

But one time

The mice came in.

I was not afraid,

But I found it annoying,

So I closed my doors.

I peered out my windows.

As the small creatures multiplied,

They gnawed their way,

Into my house.

Still I was not afraid.

This was just a mouse.

I am a lion.

But there were so many mice.

I could not walk for them.

They defecated in my house.

They made a mess.

They ate my food.

They caused distress.

In a rage

I flung open the door

In anger I let out a mighty roar

I killed 10 mice with a single swat.

The rest fled in terror.

I put up a sign.

No mice allowed.

Now I sleep peacefully

With my doors open,

For I am a lion.

What is fear?

Degrees of fear

Fear is a very general word. People are always saying, “I am afraid I didn’t understand,” or I am afraid I am coming down with something. They don’t mean they are terrified, or even that they are afraid at all. Yet the subconscious hears these negative confessions.

When we say fear, we mean everything from panic and terror to anxiety, stress and that uneasy feeling that won’t go away. Fear can be a very destructive force in our lives. It keeps us from the things that we want. Even a tiny bit of fear is destructive. Yes you can be free of the whole spectrum of fear.

Feeling of fear

Fear feelings start in the heart charka. “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let you be afraid.” Many times it is not even a conscious thought. It just starts working in your solar plexus. The heart charka is the center in which we measure our degree of peace joy love etc. These are the fruit of the spirit. When we are full of peace joy and love our heart charka feels full even overflowing, when we are afraid or distressed our heart charka feels like a vacuum. It feels as if literally someone had a vacuum cleaner attachment on our diaphragm. You know that sinking feeling we have in the pit of our stomach. The feeling we can’t get our breath, that feeling like we just took a sharp punch right below the breastbone. We describe it in many ways, but if you think about it, you can sense the state of your heart charka right there at the bottom of your sternum. There it is front and center. This is why all ancient texts refer to the heart as being a sentient center of desires and feelings. Scientists have only discovered the heart organ to be a pump. The heart charka and heart organ are totally different from each other, even though their location in the body is proximal. It is a part of a totally different body system which doesn’t have material form, but which never the less has a lot of use. It is part of the astral body, or system. Someday perhaps science will recognize it as just another system of the body. Now knowledge of the charkas is limited to eastern thought, eastern medicine, and spiritual conversations.

From the heart charka, the poison of fear can spread to the rest of the body. In many cases this can cause tremors, digestive disturbances, chemical imbalances, and psychological delusions. Energy levels can be affected in various ways. Some people get jittery while others feel exhaustion and paralysis. Many people fluctuate back and forth between jitters and paralysis if fear is long in duration. Fear thus spreads all over the body. It interferes with every function of our body, mind and spirit. Fear is very destructive.

Exercises

Concentrate on your heart charka feel what ever is there. Does it feel full? (Fruit of the spirit) Does it feel fluttery (sudden change or lack of equilibrium) Does it feel empty or squeezed, or contracted, (fear and dread)

Experiment with thinking of things that will exact different emotions, concentrate on how your heart charka reacts to each thought. Now think of the perfect love of God for you. Think of all the people you love and who love you. Think of how much you love yourself; think of things to boost your confidence. Don’t stop until you feel full inside your heart charka.

Lie down on your bed or sofa, or recline in a recliner. Get comfortable on your back. Place both of your hands over your heart charka with your fingers spread apart and your elbows out. Relax. Make your heart charka full, by thinking of love and peace. Now feel the pressure on the outside of your body. It will feel like static electricity, or a repelling magnet. Feel your hands being slowly pushed away from your chest. Let your hands slowly rise as the pressure from your solar plexus pushes them away. Stay aware of the light pressure under your hands. See how high you can push your hands with a stream from your over abundant heart charka. This is the power of your heart charka. It may take practice to feel the energy, but keep trying.

If you have trouble with this try another experiment. Take your hands and move them slowly towards each other but don’t let them touch. Feel for the same type of pressure between your fingertips and palms. This is the energy of your astral body! It is a very similar force. Now let the force come out of your hands to push them apart. After you feel this force in your hands. Experiment more with feeling for your heart charka.

Freedom From Fear

Lessons 4

The Source of fear

What are some of the things we fear?

For god hath not given us a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind.

We fear death, bodily harm. and illness. We also fear anything that could even have the remotest possibility of causing death, illness, or bodily harm.

We fear financial ruin, loss, and poverty.

We fear abandonment and loss of love. Sometimes we just fear being alone.

We fear the unknown and the unexplained.

We are afraid of embarrassment, and looking foolish to others.

We are afraid of situations that remind us of previous negative experiences.

We fear being disillusioned with ourselves, or not measuring up to our own expectations and the expectations of others.

Terror, stress, Phobias and anxieties can take many forms, but most have a root in one of these causes.

If you look at all these causes of fear, you will see that the basis of them is love, love gone wrong, but still love. This is because the universe is all God and God is love. Love is the mighty force that rules the universe, unfortunately we don’t always love as perfectly as the father, thus many problems can arise from imperfect love, and lack of faith in that love to see us through all trials and problems.

As we learn to perfect our love and faith, fear will lose its grip. All is love, we are floating in a vast universe of divine love, and all we have to do is tap in. Perfect Love casts out all fear.

Spiritual fear, hell, and visions

Spiritual fear is something that not everyone experiences, and those of us who have experienced it, felt it in different ways. Many people at some point in their lives become aware of other planes of existence. If we were previously unaware of these things then it can be quite frightening. Such are the things that most good ghost stories and horror flicks are made of. It is not however like the movies. These things you see have no power over you. They can’t really harm or kill you. They can only frighten you if you let them. They can change your mood and feelings without conscious awareness of them. We can only understand what we see by reading the Bible, and other sacred texts, and legends and writings of others who are spiritually aware. There is nothing to fear but fear itself from other planes. Learning to control your fear in these planes can be difficult, especially if things are popping up right in front of you. There are a lot of explanations for these things. They vary according to what plane you are on. Many people see past occurrences and dead people. These things are usually what I call “shadows of the past” they are no more than vibrations from strong emotions produced in the past. They have no consciousness and are no more than harmless history lessons for you. Other times we see pain bodies. These are actually conscious entities created out of the minds of humans including you. They are entities created entirely out of pain. They are immortal and don’t go into the afterlife, so there are quite a few of them around. Actually the world is crowded with pain bodies.

  Visions, other Planes and fear

Have you ever walked into a room and felt that someone else was there, even though you knew you were alone? Have you ever thought you heard someone calling your name, or have you seen transparent figures walking around? Have you ever had a vision, where you saw some horrific scenes, which left you trembling? Probably, like most people you tried to explain them away as daydreams, imagination, tricks of the light, or eyes playing tricks on you. Perhaps you thought you had dozed off and were dreaming.

Many people at some point in their lives see, hear, or “feel” other planes. They have visions, or see spiritual entities or experience seeing the spiritual essence of other created beings. Sometimes they hear sounds or voices. Other times they may just sense the presence of beings they do not see. Occasionally a person will experience Physical manifestations of astral beings. They will see objects move or levitate. The ability to experience other planes can manifest suddenly and is very frightening to most people who experience it. It need not be, but since most people do not understand what is happening and have no knowledge of other planes prior to their own ability to see, they are not only afraid of the entities they encounter, but also fear that they are hallucinating, and are therefore mentally unsound. There is little help available, since the majority of people you will encounter, refuse to acknowledge the existence of such things. Most people either don’t see these things, or deny that they see or sense them.

The fact is that most of these things are created of thought energy. They are our thoughts and feelings, and the thoughts and feelings of others. Some are personality fragments, even parts of our true self, which we have denied, and thus disenfranchised from our wholeness as a being. They grow stronger if they are fed, and the type of energy they are fed determines their character. They may be spawned of fear, rage, or on the other hand love and peace, though admittedly I see a lot more fear and rage coming from humans. I also see angels though, and we all have one. Have you fed your angel today?

I have been spiritually sighted as far back as I remember, and I remember my relief when finally in my 20’s I met people who were likewise sighted, and saw the same things at the same time I did at the same times I did. Until then I highly questioned my own sanity and kept my visions secret. I remember in childhood, trying to tell my mother the things I saw, but quickly realized that she didn’t see them, and didn’t believe me when I said I did. After my preschool years, I never spoke of what I saw to anyone until I met others like myself. The quality of my abilities changes over the years, but I have never been completely blind or deaf to the spiritual realm. I have since learned that spiritual awareness is quite common in children, and probably explains many of the childhood fears, that are scoffed at by adults.

Even if you have not experienced such things, you should read this so that you can perhaps help others. Just acknowledging that such things happen sometimes can be a tremendous help to people, especially children.

I can tell you for a fact that other planes exist and that there are human and non-human and human created entities on these planes. If you find that you are aware in the astral realm, I can give you valuable information on what you are experiencing.

Many people can travel in their astral body. Most of these people are totally unaware that they are traveling and think they are asleep, or spacing out. Some however are quite aware of their travels and take pride in their abilities. Many mystics are just somewhat aware of the ability but aren’t sure if they are traveling or just visualizing. The problem is that most mystics aren’t well trained, and some don’t even realize that they are natural Mystics. They lack information, and go around bumbling into people’s broom closest like Aunt Clara on Bewitched. It matters little, since they can’t harm you in that state, but you might observe them in your home. They may mill around or they may be able to speak to you, but they usually can’t do anything in the natural world, it takes a lot of practice to even move a small object, and most can’t master this. You may also experience angels, ‘demons’ and entities created by the mental energy of other humans. There are untold types of creatures on the astral realm. There is no way to explain them all! I should just say that at this point, don’t let anything take you by surprise; anything you or anyone else could possibly imagine is out there.

Astral beings exist with us in our homes, offices, churches, and cars. They are commonly seen in all types of stores and restaurants. They can be found in the woods, on your lawn, or in your friend’s homes. Low-level astral beings are very common everywhere. Some follow certain people, some follow whole families, some stay in certain places. Believe it or not some actually travel at the command of humans. The deliberate acquisition and control of astral beings is called sorcery. It is a dangerous and irresponsible practice, participated in by many people. More commonly people do these things without realizing it. This is also very dangerous. Deliberately sending astral beings to plague another person is commonly called a curse. Some astral beings are able to cause various problems in the material plane. They can cause illness, create major housekeeping problems, and effect human moods and thought processes. Some can move objects and cause a variety of other disturbances.

In addition there are higher levels of astral beings on the higher astral planes. There are places where the higher-level malevolent beings of the astral plane have their dwellings. There is of course heaven, where many angels and human spirits dwell. All these places are accessible to a person when they learn to travel in the astral realms.

There are laws governing the astral realm, just as the material realm has laws of gravity, and physics. Gravity and physics are not relevant in the astral realm, the laws of the astral realm are much more flexible. The astral realm operates on mental and spiritual energy. Therefore if you can conceive it then it is possible. Theoretically it is possible to use this kind of power in the material realm as well, just as Christ walked on the water, and called to Peter to join him. I say theoretically because I do not personally know of anyone other than Jesus who can walk on water in the material realm. He did say we could though.

Astral beings can change their forms at will, they can appear in whatever form they like, but they also have a true form, and more experienced viewers are able to see the true form as well as the deliberate manifestation of them. The ability to see past the façade of both astral and living beings is called discernment. Discernment is a gift from God, and related to wisdom. It can and should be prayed for. Some astral beings are benevolent, while others are malevolent.

There is another realm of existence, which relates to the past. And many people see into this realm. The things in this realm are harmless, and have no real importance to us, except that they can be interesting. You can differentiate the vibrations of the past from those entities on the astral plane, because the vibrations of the past don’t react to your presence at all. These vibrations just repeat what has happened before in the past over and over. Any past event that involved strong emotional energy will be visible to the spiritually sighted. This accounts for many ghost stories. None of the entities seen in this realm are conscious of the present time. They are just impressions made on this subcategory of the astral realm. They are not dangerous, nor can they act on our realm. If entities react to current stimuli such as your presence, then they are not in the past, and are not on this plane but on the astral plane.

If you are seeing in the astral realm, it is a good idea to learn to defend yourself. Actually this takes a great deal of time, experience and study. You should seek to learn a lot before you try to interact with the beings in the astral realm. It requires a lot of understanding to work in the astral realm, although it is certain that the most unknowing and unaware people have some effect on the astral realm. The astral realm is easily affected because it works on thought, emotion, and spiritual energy. Well-developed discernment is key to operating in the astral realm. So is communication with God on a deep level. One thing you can do with minimum experience is simply tell beings that seem to be causing trouble to leave. Only do this for entities that seem to have malevolent intent, and whom are trying to frighten you or cause disruption in your life. Many of the entities you encounter will be your own psychic content, you may encounter your own fear and anger, or the fear and anger of those close to you. It is certainly OK to drive these things away, if they are having a negative effect. The other think you can do if you are being plagued and can’t get something to leave, is call on angels. Pray for God to send angels, and then call them to help you. Eventually you may learn the names of angels in your area. Some people just call on angel names they have read in the Bible. Usually these calls are answered by whatever angel is handy, they know what you mean and all work together anyway. Some people are even visited by the Arc-Angels themselves.

The most important other worldly experience that you can have is the voice of God. It is not part of the astral plane, but is on a much higher plane. You must understand that God is everywhere and in everything on every plane. He has control of the entire universe and beyond. Everything that exists is part of God. God thinks of each one of us every millisecond of every day. He is perpetually aware of everything that happens. The bible says even the hairs of our head are numbered. Can you imagine a being that knows every hair on your head, and when one falls out he is aware, now consider that there are 8 billion people on the earth, and he knows about all their hairs too. Now consider how many animals, plants, insects and microscopic creatures there are he knows their details and whereabouts too at all times. All these things are a part of God. All creation is a part of God. God directs creation by thought and word. This powerful being is always speaking to you, and thinking of you. He wants you to converse with him. Unfortunately many people are too distracted and closed off to hear him. There is a process of learning to listen to him. Once you learn you can start to live a more productive life.

He cares for all of us, yet even he yields to cause and effect, by giving us free will. “As you sow, so shall you reap.” He will allow injustice in the name of freewill, but he also tells us that “All things work together for Good to them that love God” If we walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. This course is about walking according to the spirit. Realizing your spiritual nature, and following the divine plan, or dharma for your life, by being spirit led. God can lead you in all realms and planes of existence. Without the leading of God, people can really muddle things on all the realms. Much harm can be done by unwitting, and malevolent humans alike. Only by discovering and following the leading of God can you avoid blundering though life making untold messes in your life and the lives of others. Once you learn to listen to the voice of God you can begin to correct blunders and evils that you have done, and that have been done to you. It is very important to follow the leading of God in all things. Once you learn to speak with God, not just talk at him, but have two-way communication he will lead you to a much greater understanding of the spiritual realm than any human can give you. Your understanding of what I say must go through two brains yours and mine. It must take the form of mere words. I can only tell you. God can show you, if you open up to him.

Of the types of being that operate I can give you what knowledge I have. Which is a life’s work and study on its own, however I learn new things everyday and more information becomes available too me all the time.

The most common form of spirit on the astral realm is what Eckhart Toole refers to as a pain body. I will borrow this term from him because it is more descriptive than any I have heard before. They have been called demons, spirits, ghosts, negative energy forces and many other inaccurate and non-descriptive terms, but the pain body theory is the best explanation I have currently for this type of manifestation. Pain bodies come in all shapes and sizes. They can take virtually any form. They are immortal spirits created unwittingly by humans, out of their own pain and suffering. They can network with other pain bodies of the living and dead. They can easily be captured and used by sorcerers, or follow the unwitting subconscious will of any human they become attached to. More often than not, whether a person deliberately or accidentally directs pain bodies they will themselves be harmed more than anyone else. They best thing to do with pain bodies is to send them away from you. You don’t want these beings in your presence because they cause nothing but trouble in every form. They are not human, even though some take the form of persons living and dead. They are just thought energy, and raw emotions that take form.

Not all astral entities are pain bodies, however, and not all of them need to be sent away. Personality fragments also appear as astral entities occasionally. Actually they both generally reside in the shadow, and are there as a result of repression, rather than operating out of the pure spirit. The more disenfranchised a personality fragment is, the more likely it is to appear outside the body. It is actually possible for fragments to leave a person and take up residence with another, though this is not common. When it does it can become incorporated by the new host, with little harm, other than a few strange memories and impulses. Though many might disagree with me on the possibility of this, much less the harmless nature of it. I think the main loss would be to the person who rejected the fragment in the first place, but I have never encountered a person who was obviously missing one, so maybe they grow back. I honestly do not know. The difference between fragments and pain bodies is a little complicated, but to put it simply the personality fragment is actually part of a human psyche, while a pain body is the product of a human psyche. Yes, in practice that is a subtle difference, and it is hard to tell the difference sometimes, and that is the reason you really need to be careful. Rarely even fragments must be disposed of, but only as a last resort. In general if something is obviously harming a person’s sense of wellbeing, without cause of justification, it must go.

There are many ways to get rid of pain bodies. The best I have found is living in the now. That means to stop worrying about the future and the past. If it happened five minutes ago it is past. If it happens an hour from now, it is future. Plan as necessary but don’t dwell on past failures or dread an imagined future. Look forward with faith, and don’t look back at all! Pain bodies feed on our past hurts, they thrive on our negative energy. Most of our negative energy comes from thinking about the past and future in a fearful way. Living in the now is discussed else where in these courses.

One huge exception to this is that the pain of the past must be healed, and during this healing period, one must reflect on what has happened. Pray for healing for your pain, in the same way you would if you were diagnosed with terminal cancer. Have others pray for you, skilled or otherwise, until you feel truly healed. It may take a few moments with a sympathetic friend, or years of psychotherapy, but either way it must be dealt with, for as long as it takes, and in what ever method works for you. Sometimes healing may come from a stranger, who calls you aside in a store and simply speaks a word, or by some seemingly random event, which causes you to understand the love of God in a way that heals the pain. In general the perfect love of God is the healing force. To feel the love of God is the best healing available.

There are ministers who deal with this area of ministry. They usually refer to themselves as inner healing and/or deliverance ministers. They are generally unpaid volunteers, with a deep commitment and inner calling. Actually inner healing ministers identify and heal repressed and painful memories, while deliverance ministers dispose of pain bodies, which they will probably call demons or spirits. While some deliverance ministers actually believe they are casting out demons, most just say that to get around their sponsoring churches. Either way works, since it matters less what they call the thing, than getting rid of it. Actually since deliverance ministry has nothing to do with the intellectual understanding of the minister, and everything to do with their discernment of what is harmful, and what is not, and ability to be spiritually led, it doesn’t matter at all if they actually understand. It is not an intellectual process; it is a spiritual process. These ministers ideally work together, while many of us have learned to do both. It is nice to have two ministers though, because one has to be emotionally open to the pain of the person, while the other gets tough with the astral creature. There is no credential available for ministry in this area, so some know a lot and others know a little. A few know just enough to be dangerous, so be careful, but know that many have gotten miraculous results.  Some doctors, and therapists have even tried deliverance and exorcism methods, with wonderful results, though it is not an accepted psychological technique. I have worked as a deliverance minister, and can honestly say it is a way of life which works, but one in which the practitioner must remain vigilant. It is not something you do for a while and then quit. Even if you stop taking cases, once you are deliverance minister, it is a lifetime commitment. You can’t go back to a normal life of unawareness.

There are practitioners in most every form of religion, though usually only found in the extreme and spiritual factions of those religions, who can remove evil spirits. Most use similar methods, and most are pretty closed mouthed about what they actually do. The key is to find someone you trust and feel comfortable with.

Another way to get rid of pain bodies is to tell them to leave! It is that simple. I find it effective to tell them to leave in the name of Jesus, but standing up to these low level beings is effective for anyone, since they are only emotional energy. If you speak with authority they usually don’t question. If they argue, or act reluctant, just be more assertive, just as you would with any unwelcome guest, who was getting out of line in your home. In addition you can just say that you break all soul ties with various relatives, friends, lovers, and anyone who has touched you and whose memory and actions are painful to you. This will keep their pain bodies off of you, especially if you follow the other recommendations in this chapter. Renounce things in your past that you consider negative. It doesn’t harm a relationship with a person to break soul ties; it just means that their negative energy is no longer allowed in your being.

You can simply toss Pain Bodies out of your house or body, like any other unwanted guest, or you can send them to the dry places. This means that they must wander around in uninhabited desert places. If you are certain that someone sent them to you deliberately, you can send them back to the person who sent them. Still don’t name the person who sent them, just tell them to go back to their sender. Just say I return this curse to the sender. That should do it although it is not good for common practice, since most curses are unconscious. However, if you are being deliberately plagued by hordes of pain bodies, it is generally accepted that you can with all good conscience send them back.

Stay cheerful! Make a cheerful environment. Be positive. These are things anyone can do and they cause pain bodies to be uncomfortable around you. Keep you house clean and bright. Bright cheery colors, positive words and actions and above all living in the now will create an environment that should be more or less intolerable for most pain bodies.

Expand your aura.  Visualize your aura; purify it by thinking strong positive thoughts about yourself. These thoughts shouldn’t be in words necessarily. Just feel your inner strength. Now visualize your aura expanding. You can learn to expand your aura for a mile if you like. Now your positive aura will repel pain bodies. Depending on the strength and quality of it, the pain bodies will flee your presence. Keep practicing.
