That's right. I no longer have the Maxima as of October 2004. The Mighty Maxima served it's purpose by being a great first car that lasted me 4 and a half years. It's kinda sad to see her go, but due to costly transmission problems, I decided it's time to sell my vehicle and move on to bigger and better things......MY FIREBIRD!!!!.
I drove a 1995 Nissan Maxima GXE with a DOHC 24-valve 3.0 liter v-6 engine..yea baby; with every option except a sunroof :( I acquired this car in March 2000 and it has been a very reliable vehicle since I got this fine machine. The weekend after I bought it I was tired of not having a cd player in my car, so I went to Best Buy and got a Pioneer DEH3100 head unit with CD player. I sold my original Nissan tape player on Ebay for like 30 bucks. I wasn't even expecting to get that much money for it so I was very satisfied. Once I saved up more money from my shitty job at Tom Thumb working as a bag boy lol, (I no longer work there) I bought 4 Pioneer speakers. It took me about 2 hours to install my rear Pioneer speakers because I guess Nissan didn't think a Maxima owner would ever replace their rear speakers. The hole for the rear speakers is way too small, but I finally got it done around midnight that night. The front Pioneer speakers were very simple to install. It took me about 10 minutes thanks to my good friend duct tape. Life would be so much harder without duct tape. A few days later I ordered some PIAA fog lights and Michael, my step who is an electrician, saved me a lot of time by guiding me through the installation process of my fog lights. After my fog lights I didn't make another modification to my car till around 6 months later due to the lack of funds. I owed my parents like $500 and when I got my income tax return the money from the IRS went to mom and dad :(
I finally saved up a little extra money by selling some shit on ebay so I decided to purchase a pair of euro altezza tail lights on ebay so I could be the only Maxima owner in this town with altezza's before everyone else got them. Well, I won the auction for the lights in mid March 2001, so I expected them to be shipped to me by the end of March or early April at the latest. I fed-ex'ed my money order to the seller and tracked it online and the web site said he received it so I figured there wouldn't be any problems. Three weeks went by, no tail lights, so I decided to e-mail the seller and ask him why I still haven't received my item when he said in the auction description that it would not take anymore than 2 weeks to ship. That bastard never responded. I was so pissed!!! I had spent 120 bucks on a pair of tail lights I would never receive. I continued to e-mail that crook like everyday for a month and never heard from him. I even got his information from his ebay profile and tried to call him but the operator said the number was no longer in service. I shouldn't have bought anything from this dude. His rating was a positive number but I failed to read the comments buyers left him. Most of the comments said "seller never shipped item" or "shipping was very slow". I felt stupid for not reading those comments before I placed the bid. I e-mailed ebay regarding my problem and they said they would file a claim. So I sent Ebay Claims Department a copy of the money order, my shipping receipt that showed proof I sent the money order Fed-EX, and a copy of the auction page so they could review everything and make a decision whether or not to reimburses me 75 % of the auction price. After about 60 days of waiting I finally heard from the Ebay claims department and they made a decision in my favor. Ebay determined that the seller deleted his ebay account and they could not contact that bastard either. So the good news is I got 75 % back, which was like $80. Oh well, better than getting nothing back at all. I didn't do anything else to my car during the remainder of '01 because once again I was broke most the time.
On Christmas 2001 I got a shitload of money from all of my relatives. I got about $600 and I desperately wanted to buy some new rims. I know I wasn't going to be able to buy anything fancy with only $600 so I went to my last resort, Ebay. I was still a bit skeptical about buying anything from Ebay again but it was the only place I was going to get rims really cheap without having to jack a set of wheels. I searched Ebay everyday for good deals and couldn't really find anything below $800 so I was about to give up. Then one day I found some 17 inch Konig Monsoons with low- profile Yokohama tires that were bidding for around 500 bucks. I placed my bid at around $550 and when the auction was over I was the highest bidder. And the seller actually shipped them this time. I put them on my car and I really liked the way they looked. There were a few scratches and and one of the rims' lip was slightly bent but nothing really noticeable. That's why I got such a good deal.
Now that I had rims, something was missing- a bad ass sound system. I went up to CarToy's one night and looked around at subwoofers and amps. I found what I wanted but I was broke at the time. Then I remembered that graduation was the next month in May so that meant money for me. All my relatives asked me what I wanted for graduation and I told them money of course. I went back to CarToy's the next week to see if they would give me a store credit card. I filled out an application and they automatically approved me for a CarToy's credit card with a $1,500 credit limit. I charged 2 JL Audio 12 inch w3 subs with box and an MTX Thunder 8302 amp to my new credit card. Damn I spent $987 in less than 10 minutes. I never thought that would happen. I had CarToy's install my subs and amp and they did a fairly good job. The JL's hit very hard and have great clarity. The hard hitting bass was twice as good when I bought a new head unit in November 2002. I gave my old Pioneer to a friend's cousin because the next/forward button was jammed. Since I had just paid off my first purchase at CarToy's I decided to buy a Pioneer Premier DEH-P740MP head unit/mp3 player/cd player. The advantage my new Pioneer has over my old one is it plays mp3's, has tons of more options like being able to control how loud my subwoofers hit, and it has some screensavers.
Over the course of the next few months I hit several curbs going about 40 mph. That made my rims even more damaged than they already were and they started looking pretty bad. Then one night after seeing a movie with Alan and some other peeps, I was taking them home and about a minute after leaving the theater parking lot, my car starts riding really rough and making lots of road noise so I pull over suspecting I have a flat tire. Sure enough, I did. The bent rim punctured one of my tires causing the air to slowly leak out. I even took the rim to Discount Tire Company to see if it could be fixed and they said its too damaged to be repaired. Driving on my rim for just like 10 seconds made my wheel useless. I couldn't go over speeds of around 50 mph without my car feeling like the Texas Giant roller coaster. I fixed that problem by replacing my bent wheel with my 15 inch tire that I originally had on my car. So I was rolling around with 3 Monsoons with Yokohama's and one stock wheel with a shitty generic name brand tire I never heard of before. Not too long after this happened I had another problem with air leaking out of one of my Yokohama tires. I took it to several gas stations to get the tire repaired but the dumbasses said they couldn't a leak in the tire. I just got tired of re-filling that tire with air so I replaced my Yokohama with another shitty generic name brand tire I never heard of. Now my car looked really odd with only 2 Monsoons in the back and 2 shitty tires in front with no aftermarket wheels.
Right before the second time I got a leak in my tire I purchased a pair of diamond cut clear bumper lights. These are very similar to the ones that Lexus has on their vehicles. These clear lights make my car look much more clean in the front without the ugly stock orange bumper lamps.
The last modification I made was just recently in February 2003. The tread on all 4 of my tires (especially the 2 shitty ones) was getting very low. My nice grandma gave me an old ring for Christmas that is worth about $1,500. She told me I could either keep it or sell it because she knew I wanted new wheels. I did some looking around at wheels and finally decided that I want Konig Verdicts. I purchased a set of 17 inch Konig Verdicts along with Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 225/45ZR-17 tires. I've had them for about 2 months now and haven't scratched them..and I don't plan on scratching them either. Now I am only going to focus on performance modifications.
