“So Hailey, what are we looking for?”
“Something that will knock a man off his feet and infuriate my dear dear daddy.”
“You know Hail, it’s not like you to do a favor for your father, what’s up?”
“Well, as you know it’s the huge Anheuser Busch Christmas party and my father being their number one client, will be spending the evening in the suite with all the big wigs including August.”
“So how does that affect you? What color?” she asked looking through the racks of dresses.
“Red. He wants me to go because of some young single Busch son.”
“So you agreed to a blind date set up by your father?” Kirsten was shocked handing another dress over the fitting room door to her. Hailey had spent the better part of her childhood trying to impress her father to no avail. Now in her late 20’s, she was finally living her life for her.
“Hell no!”
“Then what?”
“He usually skips these things, but this year Dale Earnhardt Jr is going to be in attendance and in the same suite.”
“You don’t even like racing.”
“I think we have a winner.” Hailey said as she stepped out of the fitting room. It was a floor length strapless satin red dress. It had a slit all the way to the top of her thigh and with her 5’ 10” frame it seemed to never stop. The front was low cut showing off enough cleavage to get a blind man’s attention.
“Wow.”
“I may not know racing or this Dale JR, but I know enough to realize just how much it would piss daddy off and it’s not like I am marrying the guy, it’s one party, one night.” That mischievous grin taking over her lips.
I am looking for something in red
Something that’s shocking to turn someone’s head
Strapless and sequined and cut down to there
Stockings and garters and lace underwear
The guaranteed number to knock a man dead

Hailey couldn’t believe she was there, “Daytona? Hailey, what the hell are you doing?” She saw him before he saw her, some bleach blond hanging on his arm. Her mind raced back to the night of the Christmas party. The dress had worked, to say the least. Her father was more than pissed when her and Dale ducked out early and enjoyed what was a very memorable evening in the back of the limo hired by Budweiser to drive Dale around for the evening.
She hadn’t seen him since that night and she was starting to think twice about her decision but something about that night wouldn’t allow her to leave. She quietly walked up behind them.
Dale was talking to Tony Sr. about the car setup and trying to figure out how to get the blond unattached from his hip. He wasn’t even sure where she came from. “What is that?”
“What honey?” the blond asked.
Honey? Whatever. “That smell, I know that perfume.” He slowly turned.
“Hi Junior.”
“Hailey,” His eyes quickly scanned her figure, she was wearing tight jeans, a low cut dark green shirt that showed off her green eyes and red hair. The images of her in that dress and out of it flashed through his head. “What, What are you doing here?” .
“I was no where near the neighborhood and thought I would pop in and say hi.” she smiled.
“I am glad.”
“Dale, Dale.” the blond said trying to get his attention back on her, as if it ever was.
Tony Sr. pulled her away from Dale, “Look, there’s Jimmie Johnson.” He saw the lost look on her face. “He drives the Lowes car and he’s single. Go get him.” he watched her wander towards the 48 pit, “Sorry Jimmie.” He turned his attention back to his nephew. “Jr. you have 45 minutes till you qualify. Your free till then.”
“Thanks.” was all he could utter as he grabbed Hailey’s hand and drug her towards the trailer.
“I suppose I will get an introduction later.” he yelled after them laughing.
Jr. just waved behind him as they disappeared into the hauler.
I am looking for something in green
Something to out-do the ex high school queen
Jealousy comes in the color of jade
Do you have some pumps and a purse in this shade
And a perfume that whispers please come back to me
I am looking for something in green
“It’s just one night, not like I am marrying the guy.” Kirsten mocked as she fixed Hailey’s hair. “Ok, rose or veil?”
“Veil and shut up. You think it’s too soon?”
“NO! You guys are perfect together. What about your dad?”
“Said he’d be here but refuses to give me away. Suit himself.”
Hailey looked like an angel as she appeared in the doorway of the church. Dale couldn’t get over how beautiful she was in the candlelight. She had actually found a dress tight enough to show off her curves but still elegant with a train so long Kirsten would follow her down the aisle to make sure the whole dress made it.
“I now pronounce you Mr and Mrs Dale Earnhardt.
I am looking for something in white
Something that shimmers in soft candle light
Everyone calls us the most perfect pair
Should I wear a veil or a rose in my hair
The train must be long and the waist must be tight

“Come on Hailey, push.”
“I don’t think I can.”
“Yes you can baby, now come on push.” Dale coached squeezing her hand.
“It’s a boy.”
“A son, is he ok?” Hailey asked as they put him in Dale’s arms.
“He’s perfect.”
“Wow, he’s so small.”
He put the baby in Hailey’s arms and kissed her forehead. “Oh my, he looks just like you.” she laughed.
“Don’t give me that crap. Just because we have been married a year and a half and have a 6 month old doesn’t mean the relationship should be boring.”
“Well, between the baby, his racing, sponsorship duties, how are you suppose to have time?”
“There has to be away. I want more than a friend. I have plenty of friends I want my husband back, no I want the lover from that limo and from the hauler that day. I refuse to believe it has to be this way.”
I am looking for something in blue
Something real tiny the baby’s brand new
He has his father’s nose and his chin
We once were hot lovers now were more like friend’s
Don’t tell me that’s just what old married folks do
I am looking for something in blue
“Wow, girl you still have it.”
“You think? It’s a size bigger and the slit doesn’t go quite so far but it is strapless and shows off some cleavage.”
“He is going to fall down when he sees you in this.”
“Hailey you home?”
“Upstairs.”
He headed up the stairs noticing how dark the house was. “Is everything ok, it’s pretty dark in…” he stopped mid sentence choking on his own words as he saw her standing next to the bed in the red dress. “here.”
“Happy anniversary baby.”
“Where is um…uh…”
She grinned, well he didn’t fall down but close enough. “Your son is at Kirsten’s till tomorrow. Think we can manage without him for one night.”
“That dress, looks like the one from the Christmas party.”
“Close. A little bigger.” she said disappointment in her voice.
“You still look as beautiful today as you did then.” He kissed her passionately and picked her up, laying her on the bed. “I am going to have as much fun taking this one off you as I did the original.”
“God, I hope so.”
I am looking for something in red
Like the one that I wore when I first turned his head
Strapless and sequined and cut down to there
Just a size larger than I wore last year
The guaranteed number to knock the man dead
I am looking for something
I’ve got to have something
I am looking for something in red
