Several months later
The rain beat down on the top of the hauler. The team had dodged the raindrops for the dry warmth of their hotel so Michael sat alone sipping a hot cup of coffee. Summer had turned directly into fall and it was an unusually cold October day at Kansas City Speedway. Although he hated it he had decided it would be better if during the school months, the girls would stay back in Sherrills Ford with his sister. It was only for a couple of months and it was just too hard without Buffy to watch them at the track. They stayed in the daycare almost constantly and Michael felt a lot more guilty about that. At least this way there was some normalcy to their lives.
It also left a little time for him and Dale. He smiled every time he thought about him and had to admit had it not been for Dale he may not have made it through the past 10 months. He also knew that the upcoming holidays would be particularly difficult for him and the girls. It was their first without her and he wasn’t sure how to approach them. Dale was trying to help him through it the best he could and so was the entire Earnhardt clan. Kelly knowing the truth behind their relationship was trying to make life better for them. She had been true to her word and never said anything about their relationship unless she was asked about it by them. He respected her so much probably even more now, that he himself was a single parent. He also respected the fact that she could put her own difficulties with him and Dale aside so that her baby brother could be happy. She had come around a lot and even offered babysitting services now and then when she knew their schedules got to hectic.
The hauler door suddenly flew open and a very wet Dale ran through peeling his jacket off as he did. Michael stood and walked up to the front. "Little wet?" He said with a grin.
Dale just smirked at him. "It is freezing out there."
"Come on, I will get you some coffee, warm you up a bit." They walked to the back and after Michael handed him a cup he pulled a Dream Machine tee out of the cabinet. "Here get out of those wet clothes. You are going to get sick." Dale took a sip of the coffee then set the cup on the table. He pulled his shirt off but before he could slip the dry one on he felt Michael’s hands wrap around him from behind and run up his ribs. "Your skinny ass needs to eat something."
"Look whose talking and I thought I was to get out of the wet clothes?"
"You are out of the clothes." He whispered into Dale’s ear. "Almost." Michael’s hands ran back down his chest to the button and zipper of his jeans. He pushed the pants to the floor and ran his tongue along the back of Dale’s thigh, up the crack of his ass all the way up his spine to the back of his neck. He slipped his hand between his legs from behind to massage Dale’s balls as he nibbled on the skin behind his ear.
Dale’s head fell back against Michael’s shoulder as he moaned, his legs becoming weak. Michael feeling Dale’s weight fully in his arms quickly swept him to the couch then stood back up and quickly disrobed himself. Dale’s eyes traveled the length of Michael’s body, he never got tired of seeing those long legs, toned stomach muscles and that rock hard…
"Just what do you think you are staring at?"
Dale just grinned as he stood and walked over to him. Michael looked down at him and Dale could see the lust in his eyes but he also saw the love in them. Deciding to not waste anymore time. He pressed himself against Michael and kissed his neck. "Make love to me, Mikey."
Michael led him to the couch and pushed him down on to his knees. He crawled behind him pushing two fingers deep inside of him. Dale moaned and pressed himself back into Michael’s hand. Michael gently pushed him forward on to his hands and pushed himself fully into Dale.
They both moaned in unison and as Michael found a rhythm he reached around and grasped Dale’s dick matching his strokes to the rhythm. As he felt Dale explode around his hand he felt his own release. They collapsed onto the couch laying perfectly still, not wanting to let go of the warmth of the others body.
After several minutes Michael slipped off the couch grabbing a towel to clean up the evidence of the evening and their clothes "Here." Dale looked at him confused, what was the rush? He pulled on the shirt not meeting Michael’s stare, then slipped his shoes on and headed to the door not saying another word. "Hey, you gonna wait for me?" Michael said flipping off the light and walking to the front of the hauler.
"What?" Dale said finally stopping and turning to him, hurt in his eyes..
"Well, I’m not staying here all night." Michael met Dale’s stare and seeing the anger in them he suddenly realized what Dale thought. He pressed Dale against the door and forced his tongue into his mouth. "I won’t do that too you again, I promise. Now, your coach or mine?"
Breathing a sigh of relief, Dale half laughed. "Mine." He smiled as he opened the door. They snuck out and ran dodging raindrops to Dale’s coach. They spent the rest of the evening waiting out the rain delay in the best way they both knew how.

The next day Michael and Dale headed down pit road talking about the previous nights activities oblivious to their surroundings. Suddenly they heard their names being called.
They found Steve, Robby, Delana and Kevin sitting on the wall to the side of pit road. "Oh, hey guy’s what’s up?"
"Not much, just deciding where to watch today‘s race from. So, what did you guys do yesterday?" Steve asked.
Junior and Mikey exchanged glances. "You know the same as what everyone does to get through the rain delays."
Steve grinned. "That’s what we are counting on." Robby muttered under his breath as Steve kicked at him.
"What?" Dale asked not sure he heard him correctly.
"Oh nothing, good luck today. Have a safe race, Michael." Steve said as Michael and Junior exchanged glances and headed down pit road.
"That was weird." Dale said glancing over his shoulder at the group now behind them. "What do you think they meant?"
"I don’t know but I have a feeling something is going on."
"You think they know?" Dale asked not sure what answer he wanted to hear. If they did know it would finally be over the hiding, the inevitable uneasiness, the worrying but it would mean they would have to finally face everyone, deal with losing the friends he was sure would freak out.
"I don’t know, they can’t know, I mean how would they? We have been so careful." Michael said as they got to the 99 pit. "Well, we can’t worry about it now." He made sure he didn’t do anything to obvious, he could still feel the stares on his back from the group behind them.
Dale nodded. "Have a safe race Mikey." Dale walked towards the Chance 2 pit as Michael climbed into his car.
