Mother and Daughter

Leave their cozy warm home
for the five mile ride .
In moms little car
on that cold march day .
Five miles wasn't too far
for their child at the sitters to stay .
While mom worked for the day
and tho she was only three .
He heard their baby say

Going on this ride
as she smiled with glee .

As he waved goodbye
was the chilling wind
that drew a tear in his eye
not knowing
how the trip would end .
On the highway trouble arose
unseen was a patch of ice .
Spun them out of control
Flipped them over in the snow
trailing cars
struck them twice .
T'was the day of their final ride .

happy being side by side .
On a trip that will last forever.
