LIVING IN AMERICA
How did I miss it
where have I been
did someone else take over
if so who and when?
I thought we lived in AMERICA
the land of the true and the free
where if someone voiced conversation
I knew if he was talking to me.
Don't get me wrong I am not prejudice
I believe to each his own
but I also believe in America
we still should feel at home.
Quiet frankly I get kinda tired
of trying to understand
the person on the office phone
sound like they are from another land.
I don't understand just why
when into the market I go
I have to search and look
for the ENGLISH version I know.
America is big enough to share
if that has become your choice
but don't expect me to change
to learn your language and voice.
I love living in AMERICA
respect our men and women of service
but some of the things I see here lately
are beginning to make me nervous.
If you want to come into our country
I'm sure there's a place for you
but don't expect us all to change
there's changes you have to do.
Learn to talk our language
it's not that hard to do
someone out there will help you
we can't all change for you.
If it's good enough to live in
it's good enough to learn
that to be an American
is something that you earn.
I do not mean to sound mean
not trying to be naive
but if trying to be Americans is too hard to do
.....well.... just love it or leave..
