Facepainting by Sorcha Hysmith

Hi - I'm Sorcha (pronounced sor-ka). I do facepainting in and around the Houston area. Here's a brief history, so you know who you're considering inviting to your event! I grew up here in Houston, and attended college here as well, at the University of St. Thomas. I'm happily married to a wonderful guy - we're coming up on our 8th anniversary this year. We have a beautiful, spoiled dog, three frisky kitties, two birds, and fresh water and saltwater aquariums. Currently, I'm a department admin at Baylor College of Medicine. I started painting faces four years ago at a Baylor family event, and I've enjoyed it ever since. I have worked every summer for the past three years at the Camp Periwinkle welcome day carnival, and I also participate in the Cycle for Life fundraiser for The Periwinkle Foundation every fall. Recently, I was asked to paint faces at a Depelchin Childrens Center adoption event in Brazoria county. That was a memorable day! In doing charity work for Periwinkle and DePelchin, I was asked several times if I did private parties and events. I figured "Why not?" - I enjoy working with kids, expressing my creativity, and seeing all the smiles when I'm done.

Rates and Booking information:

My rates are as follows: $75 for the first hour, and $50 for each hour thereafter. I prefer to book at least a two-hour minimum, but I can be flexible for special circumstances. I prefer payment in cash, but if an invoice is required, or you wish to pay via check, please let me know and I will be happy to work with you. I have my own equipment, including a table, stools, a book and a posterboard of pictures, and of course, my paints and brushes. I can set up inside or outside, depending on your event and location. I don't usually dress up as anything in particular - it's easiest to work in jeans and a tee shirt - but if you have a special request or a "theme" party, I will do my best to fit in. I don't dress up as a clown, simply becuase clowns have always creeped me out. (Silly, huh?)

My Paint

I use only Snazaroo Brand paints - these are paints designed specifially for children's faces. All of the paint is 100% FDA approved soap-and-water washable and non-toxic. It also washes out of clothing easily. (I come home covered in paint every time! Trust me, it washes out!) Snazaroo guarantees the safety and quality of its materials. My Artwork

Click here for a small gallery of some faces I've done. I have a set of designs in a binder and on a posterboard that your guests can choose from. Click here to see a .pdf of those designs. I also enjoy doing special requests and freehand work. Whatever your guests can think up, I can paint.
