Chapter 6's extra Important Concepts

With the diagram above, we are talking classification people! Because the quadrilateral is at the top, it means everything below it is a quadrilateral. A kite is its own category, and if a quadrilateral is an isosceles trapezoid, then it is automatically a trapezoid. If your quadrilateral is a square, it is automatically a rhombus, rectangle, and parallelogram. Rhombus' and rectangles are parallelograms and parallelograms are quadrilaterals.

FORMULAS!!!!

• Area of a Trapezoid - A = 1/2 h (b1 + b2) ((h = height, b1 = one base, b2 = the other base))
• Midsegment of a Trapezoid = (b1 + b2) / 2 ((b1 = one base, b2 = the other base, add them together then divide by 2))
• Area of a Kite - A = (d1d2) / 2 ((d1=one distance across the kite, d2 = the other, multiply them together and divide by 2))
• Area of a Rhombus - A = (d1d2) / 2 ((same formula as finding the area of a kite!!!!))
