Chapter 5's Top 5 Concepts
Definitions
- Perpendicular Bisector - cuts a segment in half by a perpendicular.
- Circumcenter - point of concurrency of the perpendicular bisectors. The circumcenter is equidistant from the vertices of a triangle.
- Centroid - point of concurrency of the medians. The distance from the vertex to the centroid is 2/3 the length of the median. The distance from the centroid to the side of the triangle is 1/3 the length of the median.
Theorems and Postulates
- The longest side of a triangle is opposite the largest angle. The shortest sied of a triangle is opposite the smallest angle.
- The largest angle of a triangle is opposite the longest side. The smallest angle of a triangle is opposite the shortest side.
