MY OPINION ON THE 1993 TRANS AM. Well to start I own a 1994 Trans Am LT1. The car is farley fast for it being stock at 270 however, I made a few modifactoin to my lt1 to produce the regular stock horsepower to near 300 bhp. I added a hypertech smoth air into my throttle body increase horsepower by 15 bhp and giving over all throttle response. Second i had the transmission rebiult and and hadit convetered to overdrive and replace to a better torqure conveter. Also replace the weak commonly breaking parts with steel. The only thing that works off the speed meter is the motor its self. I also upgrade the air inducation by adding a cold air intake filter to keep the lt1 cold Becuase lt1 needs to stay cold to produce its peak in horsepower. I replaced the exsisting coil wires with MSD 8.8,new coil, and module to insure peak sprak to delevier horsepower and protecting from missing. I removed transmission shifter graud for faster shifting response with the automatic. My techique on roll own races with a 700r transmission is to cruise at about 40 mph and drop to second gear and rev to 500o rpms and shift to thrid. The drive as follows. The car will gain impressive speed if u have had it conveter to be in overdrive at all times. Another tech tip with the lt1 is a threnosat to keep the motor at lower temps to increase horsepower and air fual ratio. If u havent had the overdrive conversion u can play with the the transmission kick down cable to vary shifting patterns. I would suggest a longer 1 and 2 gear and to shift at 5000 rmp,s when racing. These tips have helped me alot and have won races. So fare i have only lost one race out of about 40 street races and that was the 03 6 speed Cobra 32 value. Which is bad considering my car has fare less money invested. I stock 1993 trans am with a lt1 motor should average about 270 hp and run low 13 without any specail type of tires or mods. My car should now do with those few mods low low 12s and my mods all add up $1800 and they are fairly common parts.
