I Didn't Need Him

There have been times
I did not need Him
Or at least, that's what I thought
Times I did not pray to thank him
When I knew I ought
My Life has been like.....
The vast open sea
As I drifted with the storms
That raged inside of me
My soul was like a ship
Sinking in the darkness of the sea
There His hand reached out for mine
Pulling me up and setting me free
"After the Storm"
He brought the needed calm
It was there he held me close
In his forever, Forgiving arms
It was there my heart embraced His grace
Not the crashing of the waves
Nor the torrent rains, with the awful howling gale
It is he who takes the helm
Guiding me throughout my life
Upon this sea and earth I dwell
