Beware ! The Crow

Sleep not ills deepest slumber
Stay life’s light at midnight number
Lest you be whisked through Hell’s gate,
The angel of death hovers on wait.

Beware! If black crow come caw at you
He leads deaths angel to collect his due.
If peck, peck, peck your window pane,
In eternal sleep you shall remain.

Heedless are you this ice storm night
As dark angel of death rises to flight,
Borne up by icy winds of midnight blue
Ask not for whom he seeks - he comes for you.
