I really want to share this valuable show on "Streets - A Rock Opera" era, because which is not circulating around very much and this is their first and last show in Japan with Criss Oliva(R.I.P.). It was kinda show case in fact(ticket was quite cheep here at around $25, normally around $50-$55) then they did only 1 full show during their stay(except the opening short performance for Yngwie Malmsteen at the famous Budokan).

# Notes - Chris comes on stage wearing his TSO Tux. Jon starts out after EOT, "Good Evening F****n Cleveland." Chris joins him, "Didn't actually think I was gonna come here without the Tux?" He announces that Poets hit the top 100 in America. Introduces Jack Frost & Damond. Chris says, " it's good to come to Cleveland and be able to swear, I couldn't say it on the TSO tour. . . F***, F***, F***ity, ****, ****." Great version of Awaken with Jon and Damond both doing lead. Before the medley Damon says, "Alright Cleveland, How are ya? It is my honor to announce the next medley of songs, these are songs from the old school, they are the first Savatage songs I've ever heard... we are gonna start this whole thing off with a song called Sirens." Chris goes into 12/24 and says "Wait, that's not Sirens." After the medley Jon goes, "Cleveland Rocks, Cleveland Rocks," then introduces the Morphine Child. Jack does more of a Morphine Stomp, then a Morphine Shuffle. After Morphine Child we get "Cleveland is METAL!!!" from Jon. Set ends with Jon once again reminding us that "Cleveland rocks and kicks ass." Jon dedicates Believe to Chris Caffery. Great version of Gutter Ballet featuring "Cleveland kick my ass!!!" Jon comes back for the 2nd encore and says "You're not getting f'n tired are you? I cant hear you! Oh Yeah! We are going to do something that we haven't done in years and years, if we f*** it up, f*** it..." Chris goes into his "Wusssssssssssssssss up" gimmick, with Jon responding, "Nothing." Chris continues, "We are about to play some f'n POWER OF THE NIGHT." This was awesome. Jack & Damond stage dive at the end of HOTMK. An amazing show.

Show notes-A great venue, but one that is definately 'acoustically challenged'. It is wider than it is long and the ceiling is very high- result is a very 'boomy' kind of sound. I've had to do a little bit of 'tinkering' to this-not much just a slight boost to the mid and high bands-it still stands up well to personal adjustment. Syperb set, featuring 85% of the Savatage 'Streets' album. Unfortunatly, the battery ran dry during the last track-sorry!!

I got thris straight from the interviewer himself. Stig over at www.metalexpressradio.com I cant remember if this was the actual interview date of the Air Date..Not that it matters much. Originally I asked him if i could use the MP3's of the interview to make a cd of and pass around to the fans. We got to talking and he sent me the original "Uncompressed" interview on CD. I then edited it and played a little with the sound. But basically what you hear is what i got. It's AWESOME!!!!! I took some liberties with the artwork managing to steal the "Behind The Music" pic from VH-1 I thought it looked pretty cool throwing that in there....LOL This has been making it's way around many trade tree's that i started but it was suggested i throw it up on here Enjoy!!!

Not the greatest recording but pretty decent none the less.

Not a complete show due to my buddie's MD recorder batteries went dead!@#$^%$#@!

I cant remember who all the musicians were besides Chris and Jeff Plate.

Prior to Zak Stevens and Jeff Plate joining Savatage they were both in a band called "Wicked Witch" Forming in 1988 they played the usual circuit hopeing for a record deal. Nothing was really happening when Zak left to join Savatage in 93. Jeff then joined in 1994 for the Handful Of Rain tour. This was there Demo effort. The first 3 songs have been remastered. From where i dont know but they sound KILLER!!!! The remaining 6 are the original sounding demos. They are a little rough quality wise but it's still a rare part of Savatage History. I for one dont know why they werent signed. This demo has a lot of potential.....ALOT!!!!

Notes: This is Savatage in the beginning. See them play songs never released, some cover tunes and early versions of Holocaust and Devastation. 18 year old Criss Oliva plays like no other of his age. Emulating Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. I got the vhs from the taper himself. Top notch quality for a 25 year video! Tripod center shot from the back of the crowd. Shot outside in a parking lot. Not very close up zooms. A little less than full body shots. As a added bonus, I created a 25 minute slideshow with many unseen and very early and private pictures as a tribute to Criss. Thanks to the Oliva family and Kathy Tijou for the pictures. Support Criss' brother Jon as he continues to keep Criss' spirit alive with his music.

Notes: I searched for a few years to try and find the lowest generation vhs of this show that I could find. I was finally satisfied with this one. Probably 4, maybe 3 generations at best. I got this DVD off a DC hub. I added menus, chapters and made some artwork. In the first couple of songs the camera is quite shaky, there are lots of heads and for some time the picture is black. But it get's better after awhile when the guy who's recording finds a better spot.

Savatage - Wacken Open Air 2002 NTSC DVD This show is cool because it has Jeff Waters from Anihilator filling the guitar duties from Jack Frost. Plus you get to See Damond singing. Video is a tad distant but overall very watchable. This was taken from the Wacken Festival so it's a short set.
