Well, I first got into Chinchillas in August, 2002. My girlfriend had seen one on a trip she'd gone on while being a Counselor for a summer camp. She feel in love with it and we got one of our own not long after. Since then we have grown to a herd of about 27 Chinchillas, having had many, many births here. I have a wide array of colors, and like to breed mutations. I am one of the few Maryland breeders breeding Sapphires, and have several carriers and full Sapphires in breeding. Right now I'm busy breeding high quality carriers (in TOV form), hoping to improve the Sapphire mutation, along with incorporating TOV Sapphires into my lines. I'm a MCBA member, and have shown at the York, PA show, winning a few awards :)
My Chinchillas are fed a mix of Traditions Chinchilla Feed (Hubbard Mills makes this) Oats and fresh hay. I dry all my own fruits (Apple, Banana, Papaya, Pineapple) to feed as the occasional treat, and love to have my chins out for run time!
