I’ve built a wall you can not see,
Because it’s deep inside of me.
It shields my soul on every side,
Holds emotions desperate to hide.
No reaching in or reaching out,
Yet you wonder what it’s about.
I’ve built a wall you can not see,
Because of pain and insecurity.
Everytime my heart was hurt,
The scars within grew worse and worse.
Stone by stone I built the wall,
Strong enough to never fall.
