Our Jobs

Nels & I own and operate a small farm.  Well to be quite honest, I think the animals own it, Nels works to pay the bills, and I work for the animals.  We mainly raise cattle, approximately 25 head.  In the spring we get broiler chickens and pigs to sell as well as fill our freezer.  We keep a flock of about 70 layer hens year round and sell the eggs.   We also acquired 3 llamas and an alpaca.  Also, two very large dogs - Lucille.  She is a boarder collie/heeler cross that we got as a puppy.  Little did we know she would become spoiled rotten or that she would weigh 85 lbs.  Then we acquired Ethel.  She is a black and white boarder collie.  Of course all dogs come in the house.  No farm would be complete without cats.  We have 4.  Cola is our house cat.  Cola's kittens - Ink & Spot are the farm cats and they  live in an old house that we use as a garden shed. Then we acquired Mr. Fancy Pants, a cute and fluffy piece of orange fur with an attitude to match his name.

Nels is a truck driver.  He mainly drives within the province with the odd trip to BC, Sask, and sometimes north west States.  In the summer he gets to be home more but in the winter he hauls into the oil rigs in northern Alberta.  He doesn't get home much in the winter so all the chores are left to me.

Our Family

We have three adult Sons.  Allan Williams lives in North Carolina.  He is a registered nurse and works on the helicopter crew.  He loves it but we worry when there are hurricanes and weird weather down there.  He has two children, Alex and Nathan.

Sheldon and his wife Shelley live in Ft. St. John, BC.  Sheldon works for the oil company and Shelley is at home caring for their daughter Kennedy and son Brennan.

Shaun is our youngest son.  He lives in Edmonton just 1/2 hour drive away.  He is quite busy with the plumbing company that he owns

Our Hobbies

I believe Nels main hobby is fixing equipment that seems to constantly break at the worst time..  That seems to take up most of his time.  Fortunately he enjoys welding and puttering with the equipment.

From spring to fall my main hobby is looking after animals and the garden.  We have a huge garden that takes a lot of work.  I can or freeze all our food for the year.  Its a good thing that we have three big freezers in our house as I tend to get carried away freezing stuff.

In the winter when Nels is gone most of the time I do a lot of crafts.  I also spend more time playing on the computer mainly with photography.  Although it seems I don't get as much time as I would like because of course then I have snow to contend when caring for the animals.
